Meer informatieWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 133 g/m² body and 60 g/m² hood insulation
- Stretch jersey panels fit under a shell jacket
- Repair patch included, PFC-free DWR finish
- Water repellent only, soaks through in steady rain
- Stretch jersey panels are not windproof
- No pit zips, no powder skirt for resort use
The Peak Performance Elevate Insulated Hybrid Hood Jacket Men is an insulated liner jacket that pairs synthetic sheet insulation over body and hood with stretch jersey panels, so one jacket covers both midlayer duty under a shell and standalone wear on dry winter days. The body carries 133 g/m² of insulation, the fixed hood 60 g/m². It is water repellent rather than waterproof, and that sets the limit: cold, dry mountain days instead of sustained rain.
Who is this jacket for?
This Peak Performance insulated hybrid jacket suits the skier or hiker who wants one warm layer that works under a hardshell jacket on the mountain and on its own off it. The stretch jersey panels keep the volume down where a bulky insulated jacket would fight the shell above it. It is not an outer layer for resort or freeride skiing: no powder skirt, no ventilation zips, no ski-specific hardware. It is also not a base layer; it goes over one.
How warm is the Elevate Insulated Hybrid Hood Jacket?
Warmth in the Elevate Insulated Hybrid Hood Jacket comes from synthetic sheet insulation: 133 g/m² through the body and 60 g/m² in the fixed hood, with a 100% recycled polyester lining behind it. The jersey panels in 86% polyester and 14% elastane are built for stretch and air movement rather than insulation, so your core stays warm while your arms move freely. For standing still in deep cold, layer a shell over the top.
Which size should you choose?
The Elevate Insulated Hybrid Hood Jacket Men has a regular fit and runs from S to 2XL. Compare your chest and sleeve measurements with the size chart on this page before ordering. If you will mainly wear it under a shell, check that the shell has room for an insulated body panel, because a slim hardshell can feel tight over it. Thumbholes, a one-way hood adjustment and an elastic hem keep it in place when layered.
How is the Elevate Insulated Hybrid Hood Jacket built?
The Peak Performance Elevate Insulated Hybrid Hood Jacket Men is a hybrid: insulated panels where you need heat, stretch panels where you need movement. The insulated zones use synthetic sheet insulation, quilted in a P-logo pattern, at 133 g/m² across the body and 60 g/m² in the fixed hood. The shell over those zones is 100% recycled polyester with a PFC-free durable water repellent finish that sheds light snow and short showers. The second shell fabric, 86% polyester with 14% elastane, forms the jersey panels that flex with your shoulders and arms. A reversed YKK coil zipper runs the full front length, finished with a chin guard at the top.
Can you ski in the Elevate Insulated Hybrid Hood Jacket?
Under a shell, yes. The Elevate Insulated Hybrid Hood Jacket works as the insulation layer for resort skiing and as stop-and-go warmth on ski tours and winter hikes, where it holds heat on the chairlift or at a break and the stretch panels let it breathe on the way up. As the outermost layer it belongs on dry, cold days: hiking, walking the dog, the drive and the après part of the day. Peak Performance states water repellency only, with no water column and no sealed seams, so steady rain or wet snow will eventually soak through. Only windproof panels are stated, which means the jersey sections do not block wind on an exposed ridge. There are also no pit zips, so sustained uphill effort will build more heat than the jacket can dump.
What is the Elevate jacket made of and how do you wash it?
Shell 1 is 100% recycled polyester, shell 2 is 86% polyester with 14% elastane, and both the lining and the filling are 100% recycled polyester. That all-synthetic build keeps the insulation working when it gets damp and makes maintenance simple: machine wash at 40 °C, inside out, zippers closed, with a technical detergent that keeps the water repellent finish alive. Skip fabric softener, which coats the fibres and kills water repellency. Tumble dry on low, take the jacket out promptly, then line drip dry in the shade. No ironing, no steaming, no dry cleaning.
What makes this Peak Performance jacket more sustainable?
The Elevate Insulated Hybrid Hood Jacket is made without intentionally added PFAS and its water repellent treatment is PFC-free. Shell 1, the lining and the filling are 100% recycled polyester. A repair patch comes with the jacket, so a snagged sleeve on a lift gate is a five-minute fix rather than the end of the garment, and Peak Performance states that the pattern is laid out for marker efficiency to cut fabric waste in production.
