What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • HIPE® 10,000 mm, fully seam sealed
  • Solarcore® 2 mm at seat and knees
  • Zippered leg gusset fits over ski boots
  • Slim fit: little room for thick layers under
  • 40 g/m² body fill is light for deep cold
  • Fixed fill, only half-leg vents to cool down

The Peak Performance Whitelight Insulated Pants Men are insulated two-layer ski pants built for lift-served resort days in cold, wet weather. A HIPE® hydrophobic PU membrane rated at 10,000 mm water column and 10,000 g/m²/24h sits behind a 70D 4-way stretch face fabric, with all seams sealed. What sets them apart is the warmth layout: 40 g/m² Pinneco Mantle™ insulation through the body, plus 2 mm Solarcore® rubber foam mapped onto seat and knees, the two places that sit on cold chairlifts and in the snow.

Who are these ski pants for?

They suit the resort skier who wants one warm, stretchy, seam-sealed pant for piste and lift-accessed off-piste days. They are not touring pants: the insulation is fixed and breathability is 10,000 g/m²/24h, so sustained climbing will overheat you. They are also not the choice for long static days in deep cold, or for technical alpine climbing, where the insulation only adds bulk.

How warm and how waterproof are the Whitelight Insulated Pants?

Light to moderate warmth: 40 g/m² body insulation handles cold lift days, while the 2 mm Solarcore® panels add warmth at seat and knees without extra volume. The 10,000 mm water column with fully sealed seams and YKK AquaGuard® exposed zippers covers snow and showers, but sits below hardshell level for hours of heavy rain. Half-leg zippered vents are your only way to dump heat.

Which size should you choose?

The Peak Performance Whitelight Insulated Pants Men have a slim fit, so plan on a base layer underneath rather than a thick insulated bottom. Check the Peak Performance size chart against your waist and inseam before ordering. The waistband adjusts with velcro straps and takes a belt or suspenders, and a zippered gusset at the lower leg opens the hem over ski boots. Available in S, M, L, XL and 2XL.

How are the Whitelight Insulated Pants built?

The Peak Performance Whitelight Insulated Pants Men use a two-layer construction: a 70D midweight 4-way stretch polyester face fabric bonded to a HIPE® hydrophobic PU membrane, rated 10,000 mm and 10,000 g/m²/24h, with every seam fully sealed. Behind that sits a body-mapped stretch lining and two kinds of insulation. Pinneco Mantle™ synthetic fill at 40 g/m² covers the body, and 2 mm Solarcore® rubber foam is placed at seat and knees, so the warmth is concentrated where you lose it fastest. A water-repellent finish on the face fabric keeps the outer surface from wetting out, and the garment is made without intentionally added PFAS.

What do these pants do on a resort day?

On the piste, the combination of stretch fabric and articulated legs keeps the pant moving with you, and the Cohæsive™ adjustment system, velcro waist straps and belt loops hold the waist in place. Loops on the inside waistband take suspenders, and further loops snap into the snow skirt system of a Peak Performance ski jacket to close the gap at the waist in deep snow. Lower-leg snow gaiters with anti-slip elastic and Cordura® reinforcement handle boot buckles and ski edges, and a zippered leg gusset lets the hem open over ski boots. Off-piste laps from the lift are well within scope; a full day of skinning uphill is not, because the insulation cannot be removed and only half-leg zippered vents regulate heat. A RECCO® reflector is built in for backcountry searches.

What are the Whitelight Insulated Pants made of, and how do you wash them?

The shell is 100% polyester, the linings are 100% polyamide and a 89% polyamide / 11% elastane stretch panel, and the insulation is 100% recycled polyester plus Solarcore® rubber foam. Machine wash at 40 °C on a delicate cycle, inside out, with all zippers closed and liquid technical detergent, then rinse twice. Skip fabric softener. A low tumble dry after washing reactivates the water-repellent treatment, which is what keeps the face fabric of these insulated ski pants from soaking up snow.

What makes this a more responsible choice?

The Peak Performance Whitelight Insulated Pants Men are made without intentionally added PFAS. The main insulation is 100% recycled polyester and the pocket fabric contains 43% recycled polyester.
