What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

The Peak Performance Vertical Gore-Tex 3L Anorak is a men's three-layer GORE-TEX shell anorak for resort and off-piste skiing in wet, windy winter weather. It pulls on over the head with a half zip and opens along a full side seam zip, and it combines a 28,000 mm water column with fully sealed seams. It carries no insulation, so all the warmth comes from what you wear underneath.

Who is this anorak for?

It suits the skier who wants maximum weather protection in a relaxed pull-on shape and builds warmth with their own base layer and midlayer. Freeride days, long storm days on the lifts and the occasional tour where protection matters more than grams all fit. It is not the right choice if you want a jacket that opens fully at the front, a close athletic silhouette, or a single warm jacket you can wear without layers.

How waterproof is the Vertical Gore-Tex 3L Anorak?

The three-layer laminate pairs a GORE-TEX ePE membrane of 100% expanded polyethylene with a recycled polyester face and a polyamide 6.6 backer, rated at a 28,000 mm water column and fully seam sealed. Breathability is stated at RET below 13, which is moderate: for hard uphill efforts you vent through the zips under the sleeves and the side seam zip rather than through the fabric. Exposed zippers are YKK AquaGuard, the hood takes a ski helmet and adjusts in height and width, and a RECCO reflector is built in.

Which size should you choose in the Vertical Gore-Tex 3L Anorak?

The cut is relaxed and runs slightly longer and roomier than the Vertical 3L Jacket, so there is already room for a midlayer without going up a size. Available in S, M, L and XL. Check the size chart on this page against your chest measurement before you order, and bear in mind that the half-zip opening means you step into it over your head.

How is the Vertical Gore-Tex 3L Anorak built?

The Peak Performance Vertical Gore-Tex 3L Anorak is a three-layer construction: a 100% recycled polyester face fabric, a GORE-TEX ePE membrane of 100% expanded polyethylene, and a 100% polyamide 6.6 backer bonded into one laminate. Because the backer is part of the laminate, there is no loose lining to wet out or stick to your midlayer. Every seam is sealed, and a PFC-free durable water repellent treatment keeps the face fabric from soaking up water and losing breathability. The half zip uses a YKK AquaGuard coil zipper, and all exposed zippers on the garment are AquaGuard as well.

Is the Vertical Gore-Tex 3L Anorak suitable for ski touring?

On the piste and off-piste it does what a 28,000 mm shell should do: it blocks wind and persistent rain, the fixed hood adjusts in height and width over a ski helmet and the laminated brim keeps water off your goggles. Zippered vents under the sleeves and the full side seam zip let you dump heat on the way up. For touring, be realistic: the stated garment weight is 0.7 kg and breathability is given as RET below 13, so this is a shell for days when the weather decides the outcome, not for weight-critical fast-and-light missions. The anorak also has no powder skirt, so deep-snow sealing relies on the drawcord hem and your trousers.

Which materials does it use and how do you wash it?

The whole garment is the laminate described above, with no insulation and no separate lining. Polyamide 6.6 is a hard-wearing backer against pack straps and layering friction, and the recycled polyester face takes the abrasion of a ski day. Machine wash the Vertical Gore-Tex 3L Anorak at 40 degrees Celsius, inside out, with zippers closed and the goggle wiper cloth removed first. Skip fabric softener and bleach, and do not dry clean. After washing, tumble dry on low or iron at medium temperature to reactivate the water repellent treatment; avoid ironing over the print. Line drying in the shade works, but the heat step is what brings the beading back.

What are the sustainability details?

The face fabric of the Vertical Gore-Tex 3L Anorak is 100% recycled polyester, and the durable water repellent finish is PFC-free. Partly recycled fibers are used in the construction, and the three-layer build with taped seams and a RECCO reflector is aimed at a garment that stays in use for many seasons.

Gore-Tex
Gore-Tex
Gore-Tex is a high-quality waterproof and breathable technology that provides protection against rain, snow, and wind. The membrane contains microscopic pores that are large enough to allow moisture to escape, yet small enough to block water from entering. This keeps you dry and comfortable during activity and in changing weather conditions. Known for its durability and reliable performance, Gore-Tex is a popular choice in winter and outdoor apparel where comfort and protection are essential.
