Meer informatieWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

The Peak Performance Monolight Insulated Hood Jacket is a lightweight, packable synthetic insulation layer for men, built for high-intensity days in the mountains. PrimaLoft ThermX free-fibre insulation sits behind a 47 gsm 20D recycled polyester ripstop face fabric, and the whole jacket stuffs into its own inner pocket. What sets it apart is the mono-material build: shell, lining and filling are all 100% recycled polyester, made without intentionally added PFAS.
Who is the Monolight Insulated Hood Jacket for?
This jacket is for people who keep moving: ski touring and uphill days, hiking and mountain travel, belay and rest stops while climbing, and plain everyday wear in town. It works on its own in dry, windy weather and as an insulation layer under a shell jacket when the weather turns. It is not a resort jacket — there is no powder skirt, no pit zips and no adjustable hood — and it is not the right choice if you want one warm standalone winter jacket.
How warm and weather-resistant is the Peak Performance Monolight Insulated Hood Jacket?
The fill is PrimaLoft ThermX, a loose synthetic padding held in narrow-engineered quilting that uses less fill than standard construction. That keeps the Monolight light and compressible, and it also caps the warmth: think active insulation and liner duty, not standing still in deep cold. The 47 gsm 20D ripstop face fabric is windproof and repels light rain and snow through its water repellent treatment, but it is not a waterproof layer. In sustained rain or wet snow, wear a hardshell over it.
Which size should you choose?
The Monolight Insulated Hood Jacket Men has a regular fit that gives freedom of movement without bulk, and it is cut to go over a base layer and midlayer while still fitting under a shell jacket. You do not need to size up just to create layering room. Available in S, M, L, XL and 2XL; check the size chart on this page before you order.
How is the Monolight Insulated Hood Jacket built?
Peak Performance builds the Monolight Insulated Hood Jacket around one material. The face fabric is a 20D ripstop at 47 gsm in 100% recycled polyester, the lining is 100% recycled polyester, and the PrimaLoft ThermX free-fibre padding is recycled polyester as well. Instead of wide baffles, the quilting runs in narrow channels that hold the loose fibre in place with less fill, which is what keeps the packed volume small. The hood is fixed, the collar has a chinguard, the hand pockets zip closed, and the jacket compresses into an inner pocket with a hanger loop at the back for storage.
Is the Monolight Insulated Hood Jacket suitable for ski touring?
Yes, as the insulation piece in a touring kit rather than the outer armour. On the climb it compresses into its inner pocket and disappears into a pack; at the transition or on a cold summit it goes on over your base layer and midlayer, and under a hardshell when it is snowing or blowing hard. For climbing it does the same job at the belay. Where the Peak Performance Monolight Insulated Hood Jacket stops is clear: no stated water column and no seam sealing, so prolonged rain and wet snow need a shell over the top; a 20D, 47 gsm ripstop is thin, so hard contact with rock, ski edges or loaded pack straps will mark it; and with reduced-fill quilting it is not an answer to static warmth in deep cold.
What is the Monolight Insulated Hood Jacket made of and how do you wash it?
Shell, lining and filling are 100% recycled polyester, which makes care straightforward and keeps the jacket machine washable. Wash at 30 °C on a delicate or wool programme, inside out, zippers closed and with similar colours, using a technical detergent to look after the water repellent treatment. Skip fabric softener and bleach, do not soak or wring, and leave the tennis balls out — the fibre insulation does not need beating. Tumble dry on low until completely dry, or use a drying cabinet; both help the water repellent treatment recover. Do not iron, do not dry clean. A repair patch comes with the jacket, which is worth keeping for the day the ripstop catches a crampon point or a branch.
What makes the Monolight Insulated Hood Jacket a circular design?
Because shell, lining and filling are a single material, the Monolight Insulated Hood Jacket is designed for circularity and described as fully recyclable rather than being a mix of fabrics that have to be separated. It is also made without intentionally added PFAS, and the included repair patch is there to extend the jacket's life instead of retiring it after one tear.
