Meer informatieWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 850 fill power down in box construction baffles
- Packs into the included compression bag
- Hood adjusts in height and width over a helmet
- Water repellent only, not a waterproof shell
- No pit zips: venting via the front zip only
- Offered in S and M only
The Peak Performance Minus Degree Down Puffer Women is a women's down jacket filled with 850 fill power goose down in a 90/10 down-to-feather ratio, built as the warm outer insulating layer for ski touring and winter mountain days. Box construction baffles give the down room to loft instead of flattening at the seams, and the jacket compresses into the included storage bag. It insulates; it does not seal out weather — the face fabric carries a PFC-free water repellent finish, not a waterproof membrane.
Who is the Minus Degree Down Puffer Women for?
This is a jacket for a woman who moves in the mountains in winter and wants real loft to pull on at the top of a climb, at a belay stop, during breaks or après. It also works as a cold-weather everyday jacket. It is not the right choice for prolonged rain or wet snow, where down loses loft, and not for high-output uphill work with the jacket on — this much down will overheat on the ascent.
How warm is the Minus Degree Down Puffer Women?
Warmth comes from 850 fill power goose down, 90% down and 10% feather, held in box baffles and body-mapped across the jacket. The fixed hood fits over a ski helmet, adjusts in both height and width, has a fleece-lined facing and a wire in the brim. A drawcord closes the hem. There are no pit zips, so venting runs through the two-way YKK Vislon zipper. Total weight is 700 g.
Which size should you choose?
The Minus Degree Down Puffer Women has a regular fit and comes in S and M. Check the size chart against your own measurements before ordering. The jacket is designed to go over a base layer and a midlayer as the outer insulating layer, so leave room for what you plan to wear underneath.
How is the Minus Degree Down Puffer Women built?
The Peak Performance Minus Degree Down Puffer Women uses box construction baffles: the chambers are built with vertical walls rather than sewn straight through, so the 850 fill power goose down can expand to full height and there are no stitch lines where the fill thins out. The 90/10 down-to-feather mix is body-mapped across the jacket. The main shell is 100% recycled polyamide, with a second shell fabric of 90% polyamide and 10% elastane, and the lining is 100% recycled polyamide. A PFC-free durable water repellent finish helps light snow bead off the face fabric. The complete jacket weighs 700 g and packs down into the compression storage bag that comes with it.
Is the Minus Degree Down Puffer Women suitable for ski touring?
Ski touring and high-alpine days are what this jacket is made for, but as a belay layer rather than a jacket you climb in. Carry it in the pack on the way up, then put it on at the transition, at a belay or at a cold summit. The hood goes over a ski helmet and adjusts for height and width, the cut is designed to work under a backpack, and zippered hand pockets sit alongside large mesh storage pockets at the front and an inner mesh stash pocket for skins, gloves or goggles. For a full resort day in falling snow a shell jacket remains the correct outer layer, and resort-specific details — powder skirt, underarm ventilation, wrist gaiters — are not part of this jacket. Without seam sealing or a stated water column, sustained precipitation is where the Minus Degree Down Puffer Women stops.
What is the Minus Degree Down Puffer Women made of, and how do you wash it?
Shell 1 is 100% recycled polyamide, shell 2 is 90% polyamide with 10% elastane, the lining is 100% recycled polyamide and the filling is 90% goose down with 10% feather. Down needs a careful routine. Machine wash at 40 °C on a delicate cycle with similar colours, zippers closed, no bleach and no fabric softener, then take it out promptly. Tumble dry inside out on low with a few tennis balls for at least five hours, taking the jacket out every half hour to shake the down back into place and stop it clumping. A cool iron is fine; dry cleaning and professional wet cleaning are not.
What makes the Minus Degree Down Puffer Women a more responsible choice?
The down in the Minus Degree Down Puffer Women is certified to the Responsible Down Standard, and the jacket is made without intentionally added PFAS, with a PFC-free durable water repellent treatment instead. Shell and lining are both 100% recycled polyamide.
