What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

The Peak Performance Men Outdoor Cargo Shorts are lightweight hiking shorts cut from a 95 gsm stretch ripstop, built for warm-weather trail days and for wearing off the trail as well. Two zippered leg pockets and an elastic waistband with a front drawcord are what separate them from a plain pair of summer shorts. The fabric has a water-repellent finish, made without intentionally added PFAS.

Who are these shorts for?

These are for a hiker who wants one pair of light, stretchy shorts with secure leg pockets that work on a summer hike and for travel and everyday use the rest of the year. They are also at home on warm-weather climbing days. They are not for skiing or any winter mountain sport, and with no insulation and no lining they are a warm-weather garment only. If you want a tailored, slim silhouette, the relaxed cut of these Peak Performance cargo shorts is not it.

How much weather do the Outdoor Cargo Shorts handle?

The 100% polyester ripstop carries a water-repellent finish that sheds light rain, so a passing shower on the trail beads off rather than soaking straight in. There is no membrane and no water column behind it, so treat this as light-shower cover, not rain protection: in sustained rain the shorts will wet through. At 95 gsm the fabric is light and airy in heat, which also means it is not built for heavy abrasion against rock.

Which size should you choose?

The cut is straight and relaxed through the seat and thigh, so there is room to move on steep ground. The elastic waistband is drawn in with the front cord, which gives you a degree of waist adjustment inside each size. A visible back cord lets you tuck in a shirt or base layer at the waist. These shorts come in M, L and XL; check your measurements against the Peak Performance size chart on this page before you order.

How are the Peak Performance Men Outdoor Cargo Shorts built?

The shell of the Peak Performance Men Outdoor Cargo Shorts is a lightweight ripstop woven in 100% polyester at 95 gsm, with stretch in the fabric and a ripstop grid that stops a small snag from running. The composition lists no elastane, so the give comes from the weave rather than from an elastic yarn. Construction is simple and functional: a mock fly at the front, an elastic waistband with a debossed Peak Performance logo, open hand pockets, and two zippered pockets on the legs that hold a phone, keys or a map while you walk. The hand pockets stay open, so anything loose in them is not secured when you move fast.

Are these cargo shorts suitable for hiking?

Hiking in warm weather is the main job of these Peak Performance cargo shorts. The relaxed leg clears high steps and scree without pulling at the seat, the light ripstop moves air in heat, and the zippered leg pockets mean you can carry the small things you need without a hip belt sitting on top of them. They also carry over to travel, campsite days and summer climbing. Where they stop is weather and temperature: there is no insulation and no lining, so once the day turns cold or properly wet these are the wrong garment, and they have no place in a ski or winter mountain kit.

What are they made of and how do you wash them?

The shell is 100% polyester; the pocket bags are 57% polyester and 43% recycled polyester. Polyester handles repeated washing well, which matters on a short that will see dust, sweat and sunscreen. Machine wash at 40 °C with similar colours and close the zippers first so the sliders do not catch the fabric. Skip fabric softener, which coats the fibres and flattens the water-repellent finish, and use a technical detergent instead to keep that finish working. Tumble dry on low or line drip dry in the shade, and take the shorts out of the machine promptly. Iron cool if needed. Do not bleach and do not dry clean; professional wet cleaning under a normal process is fine.

What makes these shorts a more responsible choice?

The water-repellent finish on the Peak Performance Men Outdoor Cargo Shorts is made without intentionally added PFAS, and the pocket fabric contains 43% recycled polyester. Those are the two concrete points: the shell itself is virgin polyester.
