Meer informatieWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 700 fill power 90/10 down, packs into its pocket
- Hood adjusts in two directions: height and width
- Responsible Down Standard, PFC-free DWR finish
- Water-repellent only: not for rain or wet snow
- No powder skirt, not a standalone ski jacket
- Offered in S, M, L and XL only
The Peak Performance Graphic Helium Utility Down is a lightweight, packable hooded down jacket for men, insulated with 700 fill power duck down in a 90/10 down-to-feather ratio. It is an insulation piece rather than a weatherproof shell: wear it on its own in dry cold, or under a hardshell jacket on the mountain. What sets it apart is that it packs into its own side pocket and carries the quilted Helium pattern under an all-over seasonal print.
Who is this down jacket for?
This jacket suits you if you want one packable down layer for winter walking, travel, cold-weather town use and as a midlayer under a shell. It is not a ski jacket: the Graphic Helium Utility Down has no powder skirt and no ski-specific features, so on the piste it belongs under your shell, not instead of it. If you need protection in sustained rain or wet snow, choose a jacket with a stated water column instead.
How warm and how weatherproof is the Graphic Helium Utility Down?
Warmth comes from 700 fill power 90/10 duck down, a loft-driven insulation that gives a lot of warmth for very little weight and packed volume. The shell is wind- and water-repellent with a PFC-free Durable Water Repellent treatment, which handles light snow and short showers. Down loses loft when it gets damp, so keep this jacket for dry cold and high-output days under a membrane.
Which size should you choose in the Peak Performance Graphic Helium Utility Down?
The jacket comes in S, M, L and XL. Check the Peak Performance size chart on this page against your chest and sleeve measurement before ordering. The hem drawcord and the adjustable sleeve hems let you close the jacket down over a base layer or a thin midlayer, and the cut is slim enough that it slides under a shell without bunching.
How is the Peak Performance Graphic Helium Utility Down built?
The Peak Performance Graphic Helium Utility Down is a quilted down jacket: 700 fill power duck down, 90/10 down to feather, held in place by stitched channels in the Helium pattern. Fill power is a measure of loft, and 700 fill power down traps a large volume of still air per gram, which is what makes this jacket compress into its own side pocket and spring back when you shake it out. The outer fabric is treated with a PFC-free Durable Water Repellent finish, so light snow and brief showers bead up on the surface. There is no membrane and no seam sealing here, so the protection ends where real rain begins.
Is the Graphic Helium Utility Down suitable for skiing and travel?
On the mountain, treat this Peak Performance down jacket as warmth under a shell. It adds loft on cold chairlift days and in the car park, and it disappears into a pack when the day warms up. For travel it is the stronger case: it folds into its side pocket, takes up little room in hand luggage and comes straight back out with its loft intact. Where it stops is deep snow and wet weather. Without a powder skirt, a pass pocket or a stated waterproof rating, it is not built to be your outer layer in a storm, and high-output days that dampen the down from the inside will cost you warmth.
What are the details that make it usable day to day?
The fixed hood on the Graphic Helium Utility Down adjusts in two directions, height and width, so you can shorten it over the crown and pull it close around the face. A chinguard keeps the zipper away from your skin. Two zippered hand pockets and a zippered chest pocket hold what you want secure, one of the side pockets doubles as the stuff sack, and the hem drawcord plus the cord-stopper sleeve hems seal out draughts. A hanger loop inside the neck means it goes on a hook rather than over a chair.
How sustainable is the down in this jacket?
The down in the Peak Performance Graphic Helium Utility Down is certified to the Responsible Down Standard and is described as responsibly sourced and fully traceable through the Track My Down programme. The water-repellent finish is PFC-free. Because down loses loft when wet, keeping the jacket dry is also what keeps it warm over the years.
