What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.
GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Please note! After registering your return online, you have 14 days to return your parcel to the postal service. If you return the parcel after these 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return.
5. Refund
You will receive confirmation by e-mail when your return has been received and processed.
This is usually within a few days after your order has been delivered to us. The money will then be refunded to the account you paid with within a week after confirmation (usually longer for credit card payments). If you have chosen to pay afterwards, this will be adjusted on your Klarna invoice.
Please note! If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

- Snap placket opens to vent heat fast
- Relaxed cut leaves room for a base layer
- 100% recycled polyester fleece shell
- No membrane: needs a shell in rain or wind
- 410 g, bulkier than a thin grid fleece
- One chest pocket only, no hand pockets
The Peak Performance Men Fleece Snap T-Neck is a 410 g fleece midlayer made from 100% recycled polyester, built for cool, dry days rather than for weather protection. A half-front placket with ring snap buttons lets you open the chest and release heat without taking the layer off. It works as a stand-alone sweater and as a midlayer under a ski jacket at the resort.
Who is the Fleece Snap T-Neck for?
This fleece suits you if you want a warm, simple recycled-polyester sweater for cold-weather everyday wear, travel and the occasional resort day under a shell. It is not a technical active layer: with no membrane and no windproof construction, the Peak Performance Men Fleece Snap T-Neck needs a shell over it in rain, wet snow or exposed wind. Skip it if you are after a close-fitting, low-bulk layer for fast ski touring.
How warm is the Peak Performance Men Fleece Snap T-Neck?
Warmth comes from the fleece itself: a soft 100% recycled polyester fabric and a garment weight of 410 g, which puts it above a thin grid fleece in both heat and bulk. An unlaminated fleece is highly air-permeable, so it breathes freely while you move and equally lets wind through. Elastic binding at the hem and cuffs holds the warm air in, and the snap placket is your main vent when the pace picks up.
Which size should you choose?
The cut is relaxed, so the Fleece Snap T-Neck sits loosely with clear room for a base layer underneath. It is offered in S, M, L and XL. Compare your chest and sleeve measurements with the size chart on this page before ordering, and bear in mind that the relaxed body is not made to disappear under a slim-cut shell jacket; with a close-fitting shell, a thinner midlayer layers better.
How is the Peak Performance Men Fleece Snap T-Neck built?
The construction is deliberately plain. One layer of soft fleece knitted from 100% recycled polyester, with no lining behind it and no laminate or coating anywhere in the garment. The front opens halfway down the chest through a placket closed with ring snap buttons, which is the piece's temperature control: snaps open for a cooler collar and chest, snaps closed when you stop moving. A zippered chest pocket keeps a lift pass or phone secure, and that is the only pocket on the garment, so there are no hand pockets to warm up in. Elastic binding finishes the hem and both cuffs instead of ribbing.
Can you wear the Fleece Snap T-Neck as a ski midlayer?
At the resort, yes. Worn under a ski or shell jacket, the Peak Performance Men Fleece Snap T-Neck adds a substantial layer of fleece warmth for chairlift days and cold mornings, and the snap opening can be worked without removing your shell. It also covers the transitional end of autumn and spring as an outer sweater in dry weather. Where it stops is clear: 410 g of fleece takes up real space in a pack, so it is the wrong choice for fast ski touring or multi-day trips where volume and weight count, and the loose body does not compress neatly inside a slim shell. In precipitation or on an exposed, windy ridge it needs a shell over the top, because nothing in this garment blocks water or wind.
What is the fabric and how do you care for it?
The shell fabric is 100% recycled polyester, knitted into a classic soft fleece. Polyester fleece dries quickly, holds its shape through repeated washing and takes a warm machine cycle, which makes it straightforward to keep clean after a season of lift queues. Wash it at 40 °C with similar colours and close the chest-pocket zip first so the slider cannot catch the pile. Do not tumble dry, do not iron, do not bleach and keep it out of dry cleaning and professional wet cleaning; line dry in the shade instead, which protects both the fibre and the colour.
What makes this fleece a more responsible choice?
The fleece is made from recycled material: the shell is 100% recycled polyester, and Peak Performance lists the garment as containing partly recycled fibres. Two colours are available, Black and Green Ivy.
