Meer informatieWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 700 fill power down, 200 g/m2 in the side panels
- Windproof 20D shell with Pertex Diamond Fuse yarn
- Fleece-lined zip pockets and adjustable hem cord
- Water repellent only, not a waterproof shell
- No powder skirt, pit zips or helmet-ready hood
- Needs a 5-hour low tumble dry with tennis balls
The Peak Performance Helium Diamond Fuse Down Hood Women is a hooded down jacket built for cold, dry conditions and for standing still: belay stances, lift rides, breaks and cold days in town. It pairs 700 fill power 90/10 duck down with PrimaLoft® Black RISE synthetic insulation in a body-mapped 3D baffle construction. The 20D recycled ripstop face fabric is windproof and water repellent, not a waterproof shell.
Who is this down jacket for?
Choose the Helium Diamond Fuse Down Hood Women if you want one warm, relaxed-fitting down jacket for cold everyday wear and for standing around in the mountains, and you accept water repellency instead of waterproofing. It is not the jacket for sustained rain or wet snow, and not for uphill ski touring, where this much loft overheats you and traps moisture. If you need a single outer layer for resort or freeride days in bad weather, take a shell instead: there is no powder skirt and no ventilation zip here.
How warm is the Helium Diamond Fuse Down Hood Women?
The warmth is zoned. The side panels carry 200 g/m2 of insulation and the sleeve panels 133 g/m2, with 700 fill power duck down (90% down, 10% feather) and PrimaLoft® Black RISE combined in 3D baffles instead of flat stitch-through seams. That makes it a jacket for static cold: waiting, belaying, watching. The tightly woven 20D ripstop blocks wind, so the warmth stays where it is built.
Which size should you choose?
The cut is relaxed and contemporary, with room for a base layer and a mid layer underneath, and a drawcord at the hem pulls the silhouette in. Order your usual size and check the size chart on this page before you decide. The jacket is offered in S, M and L. Because the 3D baffles and the 200 g/m2 side panels add volume, do not plan on wearing it under a slim-cut shell.
What is inside the Helium Diamond Fuse Down Hood Women?
Peak Performance builds the Helium Diamond Fuse Down Hood Women around two insulations rather than one. Duck down rated at 700 fill power provides loft and compressibility, while PrimaLoft® Black RISE synthetic insulation, made from 100% recycled polyester, sits in the zones where the insulation is body-mapped. The baffles are three-dimensional, so the chambers keep their shape and the quilting avoids seams compressed flat against the face fabric. The quilt pattern reworks the classic powder 8s. The face fabric is a 42 gsm 20D ripstop in 100% recycled polyamide, with reinforcement in a 38 gsm 20D ripstop woven with Pertex® Diamond Fuse rhomboid yarn, which Peak Performance states doubles abrasion resistance and improves water shedding. A YKK Vislon® zipper closes the front.
Is it suitable for belaying and cold days in the mountains?
Belay use is exactly what the Helium Diamond Fuse Down Hood Women is specified for: you pull it over your mid layer or shell the moment you stop moving, and it also works as a standalone outer layer in cold, dry weather. The hood adjusts in width, the hand pockets are zippered and lined with fleece for cold fingers, and two open patch pockets with flaps take gloves or a hat. It compresses down small enough to live in the pack for breaks and travel. Where it stops is clear: the 20D fabric is light, so hauling, scrambling against rock and heavy packs over long periods will mark it. In lasting rain the face fabric wets out, and down that gets wet loses loft and warmth. The hood has no volume adjustment, and helmet use is not part of the design.
What is the Helium Diamond Fuse Down Hood Women made of and how do you wash it?
Shell and lining are both 100% recycled polyamide, the down filling is 90% duck down and 10% duck feather, and the synthetic filling is 100% recycled polyester. Washing is straightforward, drying is not. Machine wash at 40 °C on a delicate cycle with similar colours, zippers closed, no bleach and no fabric softener, then take the jacket out of the machine promptly. Tumble dry inside out on low with a few tennis balls for at least five hours, and take the jacket out every half hour to shake it by hand so the down redistributes and does not clump. Do not iron, do not dry clean and do not have it professionally wet cleaned.
How sustainable is the Helium Diamond Fuse Down Hood Women?
The down in the Helium Diamond Fuse Down Hood Women is certified to the Responsible Down Standard and carries sterilization permit no. PA 9900(CN). The jacket is made without intentionally added PFAS, and shell, lining and synthetic filling are all recycled: 100% recycled polyamide for the outer fabric and lining, 100% recycled polyester for the synthetic insulation.
