Meer informatieWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

The Peak Performance Helium AOP Down Hood Jacket Women is a lightweight hooded down jacket filled with 700 fill power 90/10 duck down and built in a 44 gsm 20D recycled polyamide ripstop. It is made for dry cold: worn on its own as an outer layer, or as the insulation layer under a shell jacket. The AOP colourway carries a seasonal all-over print on the quilted Helium pattern.
Who is this down jacket for?
This is for a woman who wants one light, packable down jacket that handles dry, cold days and still fits under a hardshell when the weather turns. It suits walking, travel, town wear and après-ski, and it works as the warm mid layer on a ski day. The Peak Performance Helium AOP Down Hood Jacket Women is not an outer ski jacket: there is no powder skirt, no cuff adjustment and no ventilation. Skip it if you need rain protection, or if you want a down layer for standing still in deep cold.
How warm and how weather-resistant is it?
The filling is 700 fill power duck down in a 90/10 down-to-feather ratio, certified to the Responsible Down Standard and traceable through Track My Down. 700 fill power is mid-range: good warmth for the weight, without the compressed loft of an 800+ expedition piece. The shell is water repellent and made without intentionally added PFAS, so it copes with light snow and a passing shower, but it is not waterproof and down loses loft once it is wet.
Which size should you choose?
The cut is a regular fit, with room for a base layer or a thin midlayer underneath. Sizes run XS to L. Check the size chart on this page for your measurements. If you plan to wear the Helium jacket under a shell, allow the extra room in the shell size rather than sizing up here.
How is the Peak Performance Helium AOP Down Hood Jacket built?
The shell of the Peak Performance Helium AOP Down Hood Jacket Women is a 44 gsm 20D ripstop in 100% recycled polyamide, printed all over in the AOP colourway and quilted in the Helium pattern. Behind it sits 700 fill power duck down, 90% down to 10% feather, held by a 100% recycled polyamide lining. The hood is fixed to the collar and adjusts in two directions, height and width, so it stays in place without flattening against your head. Closure is a reversed YKK coil zipper with a chinguard behind it. Hem and cuffs are finished with elastic binding, which keeps the jacket light but gives you no drawcord or hook-and-loop adjustment.
Is it suitable as a layer under a ski jacket?
Yes, and that is one of its two stated roles. The Helium AOP Down Hood Jacket from Peak Performance is thin enough to sit under a hardshell without bunching at the shoulders, and it compresses into a pack for the days you start cold and finish warm. As an outer layer it belongs on dry, cold walks, on travel days and in town. Where it stops: sustained rain or wet snow, piste use as your only jacket, and abrasion-heavy work such as carrying a loaded pack with a hip belt over rock. A 20D shell at 44 gsm snags, which is why a repair patch comes with the jacket.
What is it made of and how do you wash it?
Shell and lining are both 100% recycled polyamide; the filling is 90% duck down and 10% duck feather. Machine wash at 40 °C on a delicate cycle with similar colours, zippers closed, no fabric softener and no bleach. Drying is where down jackets are won or lost: tumble dry inside out on low with tennis balls for at least five hours, and take the jacket out every half hour to shake it by hand so the down redistributes and does not clump. Do not iron, do not dry clean, do not professional wet clean, and take it out of the machine promptly after washing.
What are the sustainability credentials?
The down in the Peak Performance Helium AOP Down Hood Jacket Women is certified to the Responsible Down Standard and fully traceable through the Track My Down programme. The shell and lining are both 100% recycled polyamide, the water-repellent finish is made without intentionally added PFAS, and a repair patch is included so a snag in the lightweight ripstop can be fixed rather than retired.
