What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. - Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 445 gsm sherpa pile for heavy core warmth

- Bulky 445 gsm pile under a slim-cut shell

The Peak Performance Graphic Pile Vest Women is a sleeveless pile fleece vest built from heavyweight 445 gsm sherpa pile, bonded to a jersey back so the fabric keeps its shape. It is made for core warmth in cold, dry conditions — worn on its own around the resort village or as a layering piece over a base layer or shirt. The all-over seasonal pattern is woven in as a jacquard rather than printed, so it runs through the fabric itself.
Who is the Graphic Pile Vest Women for?
This vest suits you if you want a warm, substantial pile layer for everyday wear, travel and time in the resort base area, with the option of pulling it under a shell on cold days. It is not a technical insulating layer for a full day of high-output skiing or touring, and it is not a weather layer: there is no membrane, no water column and no water-repellent finish, so rain and wet snow call for a shell over the top.
How warm is the Graphic Pile Vest Women?
Warmth comes from the 445 gsm sherpa pile — a heavy fleece weight, well above a thin everyday fleece. The jersey backing adds structure, and the double-layer collar plus elastic binding at the collar, centre front zip, hem and armholes keep warm air from escaping. Because the Peak Performance Graphic Pile Vest Women is sleeveless, it warms the core only; arms and shoulders need their own layer.
Which size should you choose?
The cut is relaxed, so there is room over a base layer or a shirt. Order by the size chart on this page, and remember the 445 gsm pile is bulky — under a slim-cut shell it takes up real space. Available in S, M and L.
How is the Peak Performance Graphic Pile Vest Women constructed?
The fabric is the whole story here: a heavyweight 445 gsm sherpa pile bonded to a jersey back. The pile side traps air for warmth, while the bonded jersey gives the panel body so the vest hangs properly instead of collapsing. Seams are narrow flatlock covering seams, which keeps the join flat against a base layer rather than leaving a ridge under a shell. The front closes with a full-length YKK Vislon zipper, and elastic binding runs along the collar, the centre front zip and the bottom hem, with matching binding at the armholes. A hanger loop sits at the neck.
Can you wear this pile vest skiing?
As a core-warming layer under a shell jacket, yes — the Peak Performance Graphic Pile Vest Women adds a thick band of warmth over the torso and leaves the arms free to move. Where it stops is clear. There is no membrane and no wind barrier, so heavy pile on its own lets wind through and gives no protection from rain or wet snow; it should not be your outer layer in bad mountain weather. The 445 gsm pile is also warm enough to overheat on high-output days, where a thinner midlayer works better, and it carries real bulk under a close-fitting shell. No RECCO reflector, powder skirt or pass pocket is part of this vest. Its natural home is the drive to the hill, the base area, après-ski and cold, dry days in town.
What is the Graphic Pile Vest Women made of and how do you wash it?
The shell is 100% recycled polyester, worked into the heavyweight sherpa pile and bonded to its jersey back. Polyester pile dries quickly and holds its loft through repeated washing, and the single hand pocket is finished with binding to match the rest of the garment. Wash cold at 30 °C with similar colours and close the zipper first, so the Vislon teeth cannot catch the pile. Do not bleach, do not tumble dry and do not dry clean or professionally wet clean. Line dry in the shade and, if the fabric needs it, use a cool iron. Keeping it out of the tumble dryer is what preserves the pile surface over seasons.
What does Peak Performance state about sustainability here?
Two concrete points apply to the Peak Performance Graphic Pile Vest Women: the shell is 100% recycled polyester, and the garment is made without intentionally added PFAS. That second point also explains the absence of a water-repellent finish — this is a dry-weather warmth layer, not a weather shell.
