Meer informatieWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- Zip-off sleeves: ski jacket becomes a vest
- 10,000 mm water column, fully sealed seams
- 40 g/m2 fill in body, sleeves and hood alike
- 40 g/m2 fill is light for standing in deep cold
- No powder skirt for deep-snow days
- 880 g and no pit zips: not for uphill days
The Peak Performance Edge Insulated Jacket is a women's insulated ski jacket for resort skiing, built on a HIPE® 2-way stretch membrane with a 10,000 mm water column and fully sealed seams. What sets it apart is the zip-off sleeves: the same garment works as a full-sleeve ski jacket in winter and as an insulated vest when spring arrives. Insulation is light and even at 40 g/m² in body, sleeves and hood.
Who is this jacket for?
The Edge Insulated Jacket suits a resort skier who wants one relaxed-fit, lightly insulated jacket that covers cold mornings and mild afternoons, and who also wears a ski jacket off the mountain. It is not the jacket for high-output ski touring or uphill days: there are no pit zips, and the garment weighs 880 g. It is also not built for standing still in deep cold, or for sustained heavy rain and wet snow.
How warm and how waterproof is the Edge Insulated Jacket?
Synthetic sheet insulation of 100% recycled polyester is used at 40 g/m² in the body, the sleeves and the hood, so warmth is consistent rather than high. On cold lift days, add a midlayer. The HIPE® polyurethane membrane is rated at a 10,000 mm water column with 10,000 g/m²/24h moisture transport, and every seam is sealed, which handles snow and showers on the piste. A PFC-free durable water repellent treatment keeps the face fabric from wetting out.
Which size should you choose?
The cut is relaxed, with room for a base layer and a midlayer underneath, and it is sized to layer rather than to be worn under anything. The Edge Insulated Jacket comes in S, M and L. Check the size chart on this page against your own measurements before ordering, and bear in mind that the relaxed cut already adds volume through chest and waist.
How is the Peak Performance Edge Insulated Jacket constructed?
The shell combines a face fabric of 60% recycled polyester and 40% polyester with a 100% polyurethane HIPE® membrane that stretches in two directions, so the jacket moves with your shoulders and arms. All seams are sealed, which is why the 10,000 mm water column translates into real protection rather than a lab figure. Inside sits synthetic sheet insulation of 100% recycled polyester at 40 g/m², backed by a 100% recycled polyester lining. Total garment weight is 880 g. The sleeves detach at the shoulder through two full-length zippers, which adds a little bulk and two extra seam lines compared with a fixed-sleeve jacket.
Is the Edge Insulated Jacket suitable for a full resort day?
Yes, for lift-served skiing it has the details that matter: a zippered ski pass pocket, zippered hand pockets, an inner mesh stash pocket and a zippered inner pocket, elastic wrist gaiters with thumbholes, a fleece-lined chinguard and a goggle wiper cloth. The hood adjusts in height and width, can be tightened one-handed and has a laminated brim that keeps its shape in wind. Where the Edge Insulated Jacket stops is deep snow and hard physical days: no powder skirt is fitted to seal the waist in a fall, and there is no underarm ventilation to dump heat on a long bootpack. Treat it as a piste and everyday winter jacket that converts to a vest for spring laps, not as a freeride or touring shell.
How do you wash the Edge Insulated Jacket?
The materials are almost entirely polyester, with a 77% polyamide and 23% elastane cuff and stretch panels in the pockets, so the jacket tolerates regular washing well. Machine wash at 40°C on a delicate cycle, inside out, with the zippers closed and the goggle cloth taken out first. Use a technical detergent and skip the fabric softener, which clogs the water repellent finish. A low tumble dry after washing reactivates the PFC-free treatment, which is the single most useful thing you can do for the face fabric's performance over several seasons.
What makes this a more responsible choice?
The Edge Insulated Jacket is made with partly recycled fibers: the shell face fabric is 60% recycled polyester, and both the lining and the insulation filling are 100% recycled polyester. The durable water repellent treatment is PFC-free. Because the sleeves zip off, one garment covers two roles across the season, which is the most concrete form of longevity a jacket can offer.
