Meer informatieWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 100 g/m2 body fill: warm on cold resort days
- 15,000 mm HIPE membrane, fully seam sealed
- Snow skirt snaps into ski pants, RECCO® reflector
- No pit zips: no way to dump heat when warm
- 1.06 kg is heavy for a ski jacket
- Relaxed, boxy cut; sizes XS to L only
The Peak Performance 2L Insulated Shell Stretch Jacket Women is an insulated two-layer ski jacket with a HIPE® 4-way stretch membrane, a 15,000 mm water column and fully sealed seams. It carries 100 g/m2 synthetic insulation in the body, so it works as a complete outer layer on cold resort and off-piste days without a thick midlayer underneath. What sets it apart is the combination of stretch face fabric and a deliberately relaxed, slightly boxy cut with workwear-inspired details.
Who is this jacket for?
This is for the skier who wants one warm, fully seam-sealed insulated jacket for cold days on the piste and in the backcountry, and who prefers a roomy cut to a close-fitting technical shell. It also works as a cold-weather winter jacket off the mountain. It is not built for ski touring or skinning: with 100 g/m2 in the body and no ventilation openings, heat stays in on the climb. Skip it for mild spring skiing, since the insulation is fixed, and if you want a slim, fitted silhouette.
How warm and how waterproof is the 2L Insulated Shell Stretch Jacket?
Insulation is a synthetic sheet, with 100 g/m2 through the body and 80 g/m2 in the sleeves and hood, which is clearly above the light 40-60 g/m2 insulation used in spring jackets. The HIPE® membrane is rated at 15,000 mm water column and 20,000 g/m2/24h breathability, the construction is fully seam sealed and the exposed zippers are YKK AquaGuard®. That is solid for lift-served skiing in snow and sleet, but a 20,000-28,000 mm shell is the better choice for days of sustained heavy rain.
Which size should you choose?
The cut is relaxed and slightly boxier than a standard ski fit, with room over a base layer and a thin to mid-weight midlayer. Sizes run from XS to L. Check the size chart against your own measurements before ordering, and if you want the jacket to sit close to the body, be aware the silhouette is intentionally roomy.
How is the two-layer construction built?
The Peak Performance 2L Insulated Shell Stretch Jacket Women uses a two-layer build: a face of 90% recycled polyamide with 10% elastane bonded to a 100% polyurethane HIPE® membrane, with a separate 100% recycled polyester lining and a synthetic sheet insulation in between. The membrane carries the waterproofing at 15,000 mm and the breathability at 20,000 g/m2/24h, while every seam is sealed so water cannot enter through the stitching. The elastane content gives the fabric 4-way stretch, which is why the jacket moves with you despite the insulation. Total weight is 1.06 kg, which is substantial for a ski jacket of this type.
What does this jacket do on a resort day?
The ski-specific equipment on the 2L Insulated Shell Stretch Jacket is complete. The fixed hood fits over a ski helmet and adjusts in two directions, for height and width, and has a laminated brim that holds its shape in snowfall. A fixed snow skirt with a snap-in ski pant system closes the gap at the waist, and the elastic wrist gaiters with thumbholes keep snow out of the sleeves when you go down in deep snow. There is a zippered ski pass pocket, two chest pockets with a mesh phone pocket inside, and a RECCO® Rescue System reflector for off-piste days. Where it stops is uphill work: there are no pit zips or body vents, so on a long skin track or a warm day you will overheat.
Which materials are used, and how do you wash it?
The shell face is 90% recycled polyamide with 10% elastane, the lining is 100% recycled polyester and the filling is 100% polyester. The cuffs use 77% polyamide with 23% elastane for stretch that holds its shape, and the pocket bags combine polyester and a polyamide-elastane blend. Wash at 40 °C on a delicate cycle, inside out, with zippers closed and a technical detergent. Skip the softener, do not bleach, iron or dry clean, and take the goggle wipe cloth out of the pocket first. A low tumble dry cycle after washing reactivates the water repellent finish on the face fabric; line drying in shade is the alternative.
What is recycled in this jacket?
Peak Performance builds this jacket partly from recycled fibers. The shell face fabric is 90% recycled polyamide and the full lining is 100% recycled polyester, which covers the two largest fabric areas of the garment.
