Meer informatieWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

The Norrøna trollveggen warm3 Vest is a men's sleeveless fleece vest built as a mid layer for mountaineering and cold-weather days in the mountains. It concentrates heavy warm3 fleece over your core and leaves the arms free, so heat stays where it matters and your shoulders keep full range of motion. There is no membrane in this vest, so it is a warmth layer that works under a shell rather than instead of one.
Who is the trollveggen warm3 Vest for?
It suits a mountaineer, alpine climber or cold-weather hiker who already owns a wind- and waterproof shell and wants core warmth that breathes on the way up. It also works as a standalone layer for everyday wear and travel in dry weather. It is not the vest for you if you need an outer layer in rain, wet snow or sustained wind, if you want insulated sleeves and wrists, or if you need a hood — the Norrøna trollveggen warm3 Vest has none of these.
How warm is the Norrøna trollveggen warm3 Vest?
The warmth comes from the warm3 fleece itself; there is no separate synthetic fill or down in this vest. A high collar closes around the neck, the hem is elasticated, and the cut is asymmetric and longer at the back to cover the lower back when you bend over a pack or a belay. Because the fleece carries no membrane, it moves moisture readily during hard uphill work. Being sleeveless, it warms the torso only — plan a sleeved layer alongside it.
Which size should you choose in the trollveggen warm3 Vest?
This fleece vest has a regular fit: room for a base layer underneath and space to sit under a shell without pulling. It comes in M, L and XL only. Check the size chart on this page against your chest measurement, and bear in mind that a heavy fleece vest will feel bulky under a tight, slim-cut shell.
How is the Norrøna trollveggen warm3 Vest constructed?
The Norrøna trollveggen warm3 Vest is built from a single warm3 fleece fabric that does the insulating job on its own, without a membrane, a laminate or a separate fill. That keeps the construction simple and the air flowing: a fleece with no barrier layer vents heat and moisture as soon as you start climbing, instead of trapping it the way a shell does. Two zippered hand-warming pockets sit at the front and a zippered chest pocket takes a phone or a map, so nothing falls out when you lean over. The collar is cut high, the hem is elasticated, and an inside hang loop lets the vest dry on a hut rail. Embroidered logo artwork on the chest replaces a printed graphic.
Is the trollveggen warm3 Vest suitable for mountaineering and ski days?
Mountaineering and alpine climbing in cold, dry conditions are what this vest is made for: it adds core warmth without touching the arm movement you need on rock, ice or a steep skin track. On ski and alpine days it works as a mid layer under a hardshell, and the longer back stays tucked in when you are bent forward. Where it stops is the weather itself. With no membrane, no stated water column and no DWR treatment, the vest should not be the outermost layer in rain, wet snow or persistent wind. There is also no hood and no hem drawcord, so a hooded shell remains part of the system. Compared with a synthetic-fill or down vest of similar warmth, a heavy fleece takes up more room in a pack and compresses less.
What is the trollveggen warm3 Vest made of and how do you care for it?
The main fabric is warm3 fleece containing recycled polyester (PET). Fleece of this weight is easy to live with: machine wash it at 40 °C on a normal cycle with similar colours, close all zippers first and skip the fabric softener, which coats the fibres and reduces how well the fleece moves moisture. Tumble dry on low heat, do not iron, do not bleach and do not dry clean. The vest is made in China.
How sustainable is the Norrøna trollveggen warm3 Vest?
The fleece contains recycled polyester (PET) and the article is certified to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) by Textile Exchange, which tracks that recycled content through the supply chain. It is a bluesign® APPROVED article and is certified to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 for tested chemical content. Norrøna also runs a repair programme, which matters more for a fleece mid layer that will see years of pack straps and harnesses than any single material claim.
