What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

The Norrøna tamok dri3 Bibs is a women's three-layer waterproof shell bib for resort and sidecountry skiing and snowboarding. It pairs a 25.000 mm water column with a 160d x 250d recycled nylon twill face fabric that carries Vectran fibres in warp and weft for cut resistance. It has no insulation: this is a protective outer layer for deep and wet snow, not a warm pant.

Who is the tamok dri3 Bibs for?

The tamok dri3 Bibs suits a rider who skis or snowboards lift-served terrain and sidecountry in deep or wet snow and wants hard-wearing protection with usable ventilation. The bib cut keeps snow out on storm days and chairlift laps. It is less suited to light-and-fast ski touring or long uphill days: at 912 g in women's M with a 245 g/m2 face fabric, it is heavy next to dedicated touring bibs. On cold static days it needs an insulating layer underneath.

How waterproof and breathable is the Norrøna tamok dri3 Bibs?

The three-layer dri3 laminate is rated at a 25.000 mm water column with a moisture vapour transmission rate of 20.000 g/m2/24h. All seams are taped and the face fabric has a PFC-free DWR. For heat management there are X-open side vents with water-resistant zippers and mesh, plus thigh venting with a one-sided drop and slide function. Breathability is published as MVTR, so compare it with other MVTR-rated shells rather than with RET figures.

Which size should you choose?

The Norrøna tamok dri3 Bibs has a regular fit with articulated knees and seat. The bottom leg is 56 cm wide and cut to sit over ski boots, with a stretchy snow gaiter, friction elastic and a snap tightening at the hem. Wear it over a base layer, with room for a thin mid layer on cold days. The 38 mm adjustable shoulder suspenders and the micro waist adjuster fine-tune the fit. Check the size chart on this page before ordering; this bib is offered in S and M only.

How is the Norrøna tamok dri3 Bibs built?

The Norrøna tamok dri3 Bibs uses a three-layer construction: a 160d x 250d recycled nylon twill face fabric at 245 g/m2, the dri3 hydrophilic PU laminate, and a 20d recycled polyester single jersey backer bonded to the inside. Nylon and Vectran fibres run through warp and weft, which is what gives the face fabric its cut resistance against edges, crampons and ice. The seams are taped and a PFC-free DWR sits on the outside. Stretch panels in a second fabric and a stretch back panel add movement where a stiff twill would restrict it, and the main fabric itself is 4-way stretch. Note that dri3 is a hydrophilic PU laminate rather than a microporous membrane.

Is the tamok dri3 Bibs good for freeride and resort days?

Yes — freeride and resort riding is what this bib pant is cut for. The bib front and the stretchy snow gaiter with friction elastic keep snow out when you go down in deep powder, and reinforcement fabric inside the ankles takes the abuse from edges and boot buckles. Four pockets handle a lift day: two bellowed thigh pockets and a horizontal chest pocket with water-resistant zippers, a tool pocket and an inside mesh phone pocket. On the climb the Norrøna tamok dri3 Bibs stops earlier than a touring-specific pant: 912 g in women's M is a lot of fabric to carry uphill, and ventilation is limited to the X-open side vents and thigh venting rather than full-length side zips. It also carries no insulation, so standing still in cold weather asks for a warm layer underneath.

What is it made of and how do you wash it?

The main fabric face is 100% recycled polyamide, the backer 100% recycled polyester, and the stretch panels are 82% recycled polyamide with 18% elastane. That mix of recycled nylon and elastane likes gentle treatment: wash at 40 °C on a gentle cycle with a liquid detergent, close all zippers first and wash with similar colours. Skip bleach, ironing and dry cleaning; a light tumble dry helps reactivate the DWR so water keeps beading on the face fabric. Made in Vietnam.

How sustainable is this bib?

Both layers of the main fabric in the Norrøna tamok dri3 Bibs are recycled — 100% recycled polyamide on the face, 100% recycled polyester on the backer — and the water repellent finish is PFC-free. The article is bluesign approved, certified to the Global Recycled Standard (Textile Exchange) and to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100.

3L
3L
3L refers to a three-layer construction in which the outer fabric, membrane, and a thin backer layer are combined into one unified layer. This design offers excellent protection against wind and water while maintaining high breathability. Because 3L is unlined, it feels light and flexible and functions as a versatile shell that allows your warmth and comfort to be determined by the layers you wear underneath. As a result, 3L provides a well-balanced combination of protection, freedom of movement, and comfort in winter conditions.
