Meer informatieWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 60 g/m2 at the seat, 40 g/m2 through the rest
- Vectran-reinforced lower legs and inner ankles
- 55 cm leg width goes over ski boots
- Insulated throughout: too warm for spring skiing
- 692 g in size M, heavy for touring ascents
- Zip-off bib with suspenders is sold separately
The Norrøna lofoten Gore-Tex thermo60 Pants are insulated women's freeride ski pants for cold resort and sidecountry days, built from a 2-layer GORE-TEX ePE laminate with taped seams over bodymapped Pinneco Mantle B insulation. The insulation is zoned rather than uniform: 60 g/m2 through the front seat, back seat and gusset, 40 g/m2 across the rest of the pant. They weigh 692 g in women's size M.
Who are the lofoten Gore-Tex thermo60 Pants for?
These pants suit a woman who skis cold days on and off piste and wants a warm, heavily featured, durable GORE-TEX pant instead of an uninsulated shell. They are the wrong choice for warm spring skiing or mild conditions, for long high-output touring ascents, and for climbing or non-snow mountain use. If you want a bib straight out of the box, note that the zip-off bib with suspenders is a separate item.
How warm are the Norrøna lofoten Gore-Tex thermo60 Pants?
Warmth comes from Pinneco Mantle B at 60 g/m2 in the seat and gusset zones and 40 g/m2 elsewhere, backed by a 20d plain weave recycled nylon lining at 35 g/m2. Because the insulation runs through the whole pant, heat management relies on the X-open side ventilation with water-resistant zippers rather than on a lighter build.
Which size should you choose in the Norrøna lofoten Gore-Tex thermo60 Pants?
The cut is a regular fit with a 55 cm bottom leg width, so the leg goes over ski boots and closes with snap tightening at the hem. The waist uses a custom-fit waist system, belt loops and a higher back waistband, which gives you room to fine-tune the fit. Check your measurements against the size chart on this page before ordering. The pants are insulated, so you only need a base layer underneath. Sizes run S to XL, with XL listed in Caviar Black only.
How are the Norrøna lofoten Gore-Tex thermo60 Pants built?
The Norrøna lofoten Gore-Tex thermo60 Pants use a recycled 70x160d nylon face fabric with a GORE-TEX 2-layer ePE laminate at 125 g/m2, finished with a C0 DWR and taped seams. Inside sits bodymapped Pinneco Mantle B insulation, 60 g/m2 at the front seat, back seat and gusset and 40 g/m2 through the remainder, with a 20d recycled nylon lining at 35 g/m2 carrying it. The lower legs get a separate nylon/Vectran blend 3-layer fabric with the Vectran fibres running in the warp direction, plus reinforcement fabric inside the ankles.
Are these pants suitable for sidecountry freeriding?
Sidecountry freeriding in cold conditions is what these pants are made for, and resort and off-piste days in cold weather are the obvious second use. An articulated knee construction and a stretchy snow gaiter with friction elastic keep the pant working in deep snow, and the snap-in solution connects to the powder skirt on a matching jacket; a vest/bib/zip seal joint is fully sealed and sold separately. Where they stop is uphill output: at 692 g in women's size M, with insulation throughout and a lined 2-layer construction, these are heavier and warmer than a touring pant, and the 2-layer build with its separate lining is bulkier than a 3-layer shell in the same fabric. On mild spring days the side vents are your only release valve.
What are the Norrøna lofoten Gore-Tex thermo60 Pants made of and how do you wash them?
The main fabric is recycled nylon with a GORE-TEX 2-layer ePE laminate; the lining is 100% recycled nylon in a 20d plain weave. The Vectran-blend lower leg panels are there to take the abuse of boot buckles, ski edges and crampon-free scrambling over rock and ice. Wash gently at 40°C with a liquid detergent and similar colours, close all zippers first, tumble dry lightly and do not bleach or dry clean. Ironing is allowed at a maximum of 110°C, which also helps revive the C0 DWR after washing.
What makes these pants a more sustainable choice?
The face fabric of the Norrøna lofoten Gore-Tex thermo60 Pants is recycled nylon and a bluesign fabric, treated with a C0 DWR, and the lining is 100% recycled nylon. Certifications for this style include bluesign APPROVED, OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and Recycled Claim Standard 100 (RCS), covering recycled polyamide and recycled polyester content. The pants are made in Vietnam.
