Meer informatieWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.
GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 60 g/m2 seat insulation, 40 g/m2 through the legs
- 58 cm leg opening fits over ski boots
- Vectran-reinforced ankles against ski edge cuts
- 770 g in size L: heavy for touring ascents
- Fixed insulation, only side zips to dump heat
- Only M, L and XL, no short or long leg lengths
The Norrøna lofoten Gore-Tex thermo60 Pants are insulated men's freeride ski pants built on a 2-layer GORE-TEX ePE laminate with taped seams. The Pinneco Mantle B insulation is body-mapped: 60 g/m2 across the front seat, back seat and gusset, 40 g/m2 through the rest of the pant. They weigh 770 g in size L, which is the trade-off for a lined, insulated pant rather than a bare shell.
Who are these freeride pants for?
The lofoten Gore-Tex thermo60 Pants suit a skier who rides cold, deep days off piste and on piste and wants built-in warmth plus full waterproof protection in one garment. They are not the pant for long touring or hike-to ascents, where 770 g and fixed insulation work against you, and not for spring and warm-weather piste days, where the insulation stays in even when you do not want it. If you want a bib, note that the zip-off bib/vest with suspenders is a separate purchase.
How warm are the Norrøna lofoten Gore-Tex thermo60 Pants?
Warmth comes from three layers working together: 60 g/m2 insulation in the seat and gusset where you sit on snow and in chairlifts, 40 g/m2 elsewhere, a 35 g/m2 recycled nylon lining, and a windproof GORE-TEX membrane over the top. For heat management uphill or on warmer afternoons you have X-open side ventilation with water-resistant zippers; the insulation itself cannot be removed.
Which size should you choose?
These are regular fit men's ski pants in M, L and XL, with a bottom leg width of 58 cm so the hem passes over ski boots. The waist uses a custom-fit adjustment system, has belt loops and a raised back waistband, so you have room to fine-tune the fit over a base layer. Check the size chart on this page before ordering; no short or long leg lengths are offered in this style.
How are the Norrøna lofoten Gore-Tex thermo60 Pants constructed?
The shell is a recycled 70x160d nylon face fabric bonded to a GORE-TEX 2-layer ePE laminate, 125 g/m2, finished with a C0 DWR so snow and water bead off the surface instead of soaking in. All seams are taped. Behind the membrane sits the body-mapped Pinneco Mantle B insulation, and behind that a 20d plain weave lining of 100% recycled nylon at 35 g/m2 that keeps the insulation in place and lets the pant slide over a base layer. Inside the ankles, a 3-layer reinforcement fabric with Vectran fibres running in the warp direction takes the abuse from ski edges and crampon-side scrapes.
Are these pants suitable for ski touring?
Only for short approaches. The Norrøna lofoten Gore-Tex thermo60 Pants are built for lift-accessed freeriding, sidecountry laps and cold resort days, where waterproofing, warmth and abrasion resistance matter more than grams. On a sustained skin track, a 2-layer lined construction with insulation throughout holds heat you need to shed, and the X-open side zips are the only way to vent. Where they come into their own is deep, cold days: the stretchy snow gaiter with friction elastic and snap tightening at the bottom leg seals around the boot, the articulated knees keep the fabric out of your way in a deep stance, and a snap-in solution connects the pant to a matching jacket powder skirt. A zip-off bib/vest with suspenders is compatible and joins with a fully sealed connection, but it is bought separately.
What are they made of and how do you care for them?
Main fabric, lining and reinforcement are all synthetic, so care is straightforward. Wash at 40 degrees Celsius on a gentle cycle with liquid detergent and similar colours, with all zippers closed. Skip bleach and dry cleaning. A light tumble dry helps reactivate the C0 DWR on the face fabric; if you iron, stay at 110 degrees Celsius maximum. Washing when the fabric stops beading keeps the surface from wetting out, which is what makes a waterproof pant feel cold and heavy.
What makes the lofoten Gore-Tex thermo60 Pants more sustainable?
The main fabric is recycled nylon and a bluesign fabric; the lining is 100% recycled nylon. The water repellent finish is a C0 DWR. The style is recorded as a bluesign APPROVED article and carries OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and Recycled Claim Standard 100 (RCS) certification for its recycled polyamide and polyester content. The pants are made in Vietnam and are available in Olive Night and Caviar Black.
