What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

This is usually within a few days after your order has been delivered to us. The money will then be refunded to the account you paid with within a week after confirmation (usually longer for credit card payments). If you have chosen to pay afterwards, this will be adjusted on your Klarna invoice.

Please note! If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

  • PrimaLoft® BLACK insulation, lightweight warmth
  • Soft fleece in hand pockets and inside collar
  • Zipped chest and hand pockets with YKK® zippers
  • DWR water repellent only, not waterproof
  • No hood, powder skirt or ski pass pocket
  • Light insulation, not for very cold ski days

The Helly Hansen Women's Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 is a lightweight insulated jacket for coastal, inshore and offshore sailing and for marine lifestyle wear. It combines PrimaLoft® BLACK insulation with a DWR-treated, water-repellent polyester shell in a classic, clean-cut marine design. Helly Hansen classifies it as a midlayer, and its clean look also suits everyday wear in the city.

Who is the Helly Hansen Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 for?

This women's insulated jacket is for sailors who want light warmth on deck, including when sailing upwind. It also suits anyone who wants a neat, marine-style jacket for town. In a ski wardrobe, the Helly Hansen Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 belongs under a waterproof ski jacket as an insulating layer. It is not a ski jacket. It has no hood, powder skirt or ski pass pocket, and it is not meant as an outer layer on the slopes in snowfall, wet snow or rain. If you need a warm main jacket for very cold ski days or high-alpine use, choose a dedicated ski jacket instead.

How warm and how water-repellent is the Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0?

The Helly Hansen Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 is insulated with PrimaLoft® BLACK, a 100% polyester synthetic insulation that gives lightweight warmth. The 100% polyester shell has a DWR treatment that makes water bead on the surface of the fabric. This insulated jacket is water repellent, not waterproof: it will not keep you dry in sustained rain or wet snow. The insulation is light, so it is built for days when you want a light warm layer, not for standing still in very cold conditions.

Which size should I choose for the Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0?

The Helly Hansen Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 has a regular fit with a classic, clean-cut marine silhouette. Helly Hansen sizes this women's jacket against its women's midlayer size chart. Compare your measurements with the size chart on this product page before you order. If you plan to wear it under a ski shell, check that your shell has room for an insulated layer.

How is the Helly Hansen Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 built?

The Helly Hansen Women's Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 is made in three layers: a 100% polyester outer shell with a DWR treatment, PrimaLoft® BLACK insulation in 100% polyester, and a 100% polyester lining. The DWR finish on the shell makes water bead on the fabric, while the PrimaLoft® BLACK insulation provides lightweight warmth. This insulated jacket is water repellent through its DWR finish; it is not a waterproof shell. Soft fleece lines the hand pockets and the inside of the collar for comfort against your hands and neck. YKK® zippers close the chest pocket and both hand pockets, so small items stay secure. Internal and external hanging loops make it easy to hang the jacket up on board or at home.

Where does the Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 work best?

The Helly Hansen Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 was developed for coastal, inshore and offshore sailing. Helly Hansen designed this women's insulated jacket to keep you warm when sailing upwind, with the light insulation and water-repellent shell working together on deck. Off the water, the classic, clean-cut marine design and printed logos make the Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 a jacket for marine lifestyle wear and for everyday use in the city.

Can you wear the Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 for skiing?

The Helly Hansen Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 is a sailing jacket, not a ski jacket. On the piste or off-piste it only makes sense as an insulating midlayer under a waterproof ski jacket. Worn as an outer layer in snowfall, wet snow or rain, the DWR-treated shell will let moisture through. The Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 has no ski-specific features such as a hood, powder skirt or ski pass pocket. With its lightweight insulation it is not a warm main jacket for very cold ski days or high-alpine use. It is also not a dedicated ski touring or climbing piece, because it was not designed for those activities.

What is the Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 made of and how do you wash it?

Every main part of the Helly Hansen Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 is polyester: the shell is 100% polyester, the lining is 100% polyester and the PrimaLoft® BLACK insulation is 100% polyester. Do not use fabric softener when washing this insulated jacket. Take it out of the washer promptly once the cycle ends. Wash dark colours separately, and be aware that some fading may occur on bright colours.

Is the Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 a bluesign® product?

Helly Hansen lists the Women's Crew Insulated Sailing Jacket 2.0 as a bluesign® product in its features.
