What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
  • If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • Detachable vest with 80 g PrimaLoft Black
  • Shell and vest wear together or separately
  • LIFE POCKET designed to preserve battery in cold
  • Vest insulates torso only; sleeves uninsulated
  • 1250 g listed weight: heavy to carry in a pack
  • Resort feature set, not built for ski touring

The Helly Hansen Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket is a women's ski jacket for resort skiing. It pairs a stretch softshell outer jacket in 3-layer construction with a detachable vest insulated with 80 g PrimaLoft Black. Helly Hansen's CIS 3in1 System lets you wear the shell and vest together or separately, so you can match the jacket to the day.

Who is the Helly Hansen Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket for?

The Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket suits women who ski mainly in the resort, on piste and off-piste. They want a stretchy shell with an adjustable hood, an adjustable powder skirt and a ski pass pocket, plus warmth they can remove. It is not built for ski touring. The feature set is aimed at the resort, and the listed weight is 1250 g. It also has no climbing- or harness-specific features. This is a women's cut, so men should choose a men's model.

How warm is the Helly Hansen Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket?

All of the insulation in the Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket sits in the detachable vest. The vest holds 80 g PrimaLoft Black synthetic blowable insulation (100% polyester) in baffles that retain heat around your torso. The shell itself is not insulated, and the vest has no sleeves, so your arms are covered by the softshell alone. That makes this a partly insulated jacket. It keeps your core warm, but it is not meant for long, static hours in deep cold. The outer shell is a windproof, waterproof and breathable stretch softshell.

Which size of the Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket should I choose?

The Helly Hansen Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket has a women's cut in stretch softshell. It has articulated elbows and no side seams, so it moves with you. The vest is worn inside the shell as the insulating layer. Choose your size from the size chart on this product page, and measure over the base layer you normally ski in.

How does the CIS 3in1 System of the Helly Hansen Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket work?

The Helly Hansen Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket consists of two garments.

  • The outer jacket is a stretch softshell in 3-layer construction, made from 76% polyamide and 24% elastane.
  • The insulator is a vest filled with PrimaLoft Black synthetic blowable insulation at 80 g, held in baffles.

With Helly Hansen's CIS 3in1 System, you attach the vest inside the shell and wear both as one insulated jacket. You can also wear the shell on its own as a windproof outer layer, or the vest on its own as a stand-alone layer. Around the neck and front, a full inner front placket and a soft fleece chin guard add comfort. Elastic cuffs close the sleeves at the wrist.

How does the Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket perform on the piste and off-piste?

On a resort day, the Helly Hansen Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket keeps your essentials organised.

  • A ski pass pocket for lift gates.
  • Chest and hand pockets with YKK zippers.
  • An inside stash pocket.
  • A LIFE POCKET in the hand pocket, designed to preserve battery life in cold weather.

For off-piste runs, the adjustable hood and adjustable powder skirt help keep snow out. Articulated elbows and the absence of side seams give you freedom of movement when you pole, turn or fall. The jacket coordinates with the Women's Avanti Softshell Ski Bib Pants for a matching outfit.

Is the Helly Hansen Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket suitable for ski touring or cold, static days?

The Helly Hansen Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket is designed for resort, piste and off-piste skiing, not for ski touring. Its powder skirt and ski pass pocket are resort features. Its listed weight of 1250 g is heavy to carry in a pack on the climb. It has no climbing- or harness-specific features either. Warmth is limited to the torso, because the sleeves get no insulation from the vest. Skiers who feel the cold in their arms, or who want insulation built into the whole jacket, should look at a fully insulated ski jacket instead.

What is the Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket made of, and how do I wash it?

The main shell of the Helly Hansen Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket is 76% polyamide and 24% elastane. The elastane share is what gives the softshell its stretch. A second shell fabric is 100% polyamide, and the insulation is 100% polyester. Before washing, follow these steps.

  • Close all zippers.
  • Remove all loose items.
  • Wash the jacket with similar colours.
  • Leave out fabric softener.

Does the Helly Hansen Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket use sustainable materials?

The main material of the Helly Hansen Avanti 3-in-1 Softshell Ski Jacket is bluesign®.
