What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • 3-layer stretch softshell with articulated knees
  • Elastic suspenders and adjustable hem tune the fit
  • RECCO® reflectors and snow gaiters with gripper
  • Lined, not insulated: warmth depends on your layers
  • Softshell: less protection in rain than a hardshell
  • Bib design: jacket comes off for toilet breaks

The Helly Hansen Avanti Softshell Ski Bib Pants are women's ski bib pants for piste skiing, made from a 3-layer stretch softshell of 76% polyamide and 24% elastane. They pair a streamlined, retro-styled silhouette with elastic suspenders, articulated knees and RECCO® reflectors. The shell is windproof and lined but not insulated, so your own layers control the warmth.

Who are the Avanti Softshell Ski Bib Pants for?

The Helly Hansen Avanti Softshell Ski Bib Pants suit women who ski mainly on groomed pistes and want a sleek line with stretch for carving and moving freely. Helly Hansen also lists them for off-piste skiing and alpine racing. They are not the right choice if you want a loose, baggy freeride cut, plan ski tours with long ascents, or head into high-alpine or climbing terrain.

How warm and weather-resistant are the Avanti ski bib pants?

The 3-layer softshell of the Avanti ski bib pants blocks wind and carries a lining for comfort, with no insulation layer. On very cold days, warmth depends on the base layer and midlayer you wear underneath. As a softshell, the Avanti offers less protection in long spells of heavy wet snow or rain than a waterproof hardshell bib. The pants weigh 900 g.

Which size should I choose in the Avanti Softshell Ski Bib Pants?

The Helly Hansen Avanti Softshell Ski Bib Pants have a streamlined, sleek silhouette, and the stretch fabric moves with you instead of adding volume. Choose your size from the Helly Hansen women's pants size chart on this product page. The elastic suspenders set the bib height and the adjustable bottom hem fine-tunes the leg. The zippered, expandable leg opening and boot gaiters with gripper fit over ski boots. The cut is not loose, so if you wear thick layers underneath, measure carefully against the chart.

How are the Helly Hansen Avanti Softshell Ski Bib Pants constructed?

The Helly Hansen Avanti Softshell Ski Bib Pants use a 3-layer construction with a stretch softshell outer fabric of 76% polyamide and 24% elastane. The elastane gives the fabric its stretch, and articulated knees follow the bent-knee position of skiing without pulling the bib out of shape. Inside, two linings are used: one in 100% polyester and one in 85% polyamide with 15% elastane. There is no separate insulation layer. The bib is windproof, and the lower leg carries extra reinforcement, including a printed reinforcement, to resist wear. Chest pockets on the bib give you storage above the waist, and an internal hanging loop makes the pants easy to hang up after a ski day.

Can you ski off-piste or go ski touring in the Avanti ski bib pants?

The Helly Hansen Avanti Softshell Ski Bib Pants are designed first for resort and piste skiing, and Helly Hansen also lists off-piste skiing and alpine racing as uses. Next to the groomed runs, snow gaiters with gripper close the leg around your ski boot, and RECCO® reflectors help organised rescue teams locate you with RECCO® detectors. The streamlined piste cut and softshell weather protection set a limit in deep, wet snow, where a hardshell bib is the better tool. For ski touring with long ascents, these pants are lined, weigh 900 g and are not marketed for touring, and the lined construction can feel warm under sustained hard effort. They are not designed for high-alpine mountaineering or climbing. As a bib with suspenders, the Avanti also means opening or removing your jacket for toilet breaks.

What are the Avanti Softshell Ski Bib Pants made of, and how do you wash them?

The shell of the Helly Hansen Avanti Softshell Ski Bib Pants is 76% polyamide and 24% elastane, a blend that combines a hard-wearing polyamide face with stretch. The linings are 100% polyester and 85% polyamide with 15% elastane. Care is simple: close all zippers before washing, wash the pants with similar colours and do not use fabric softener. The reinforced bottom leg adds durability where the fabric meets boots and snow most often.

Which sustainability certification does the Avanti ski bib carry?

The main material of the Helly Hansen Avanti Softshell Ski Bib Pants is bluesign® approved.
