Meer informatieWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- HELLY TECH Performance membrane, fully seam sealed
- LIFE POCKET helps your phone battery last in the cold
- Powder skirt, helmet hood, RECCO and kangaroo pocket
- 40 g insulation: too light alone on very cold days
- Half zip: goes on over the head, no full opening
- Insulated 800 g: can run warm on long climbs
The Helly Hansen Powchaser Anorak is a women's insulated ski anorak for resort and side-country skiing, with a relaxed, boxy fit and a YKK front half zip. It combines a fully seam-sealed HELLY TECH Performance membrane with PrimaLoft Black Eco 40 g insulation. A LIFE POCKET helps your phone battery last longer in the cold.
Who is the Helly Hansen Powchaser Anorak for?
The Helly Hansen Powchaser Anorak is for women who ski the resort and head into the side-country. It suits beginners through to experienced skiers who like a pull-over anorak with a loose cut. The adjustable powder skirt, helmet-compatible hood and RECCO reflector are set up for days off the groomed runs. This ski anorak is not for you if you want a slim, close-fitting silhouette or a jacket that opens fully at the front, because it goes on over your head. It is also not built for ski touring with long, sustained climbs, or for high-alpine mountaineering and climbing.
How warm and weatherproof is the Powchaser ski anorak?
The HELLY TECH Performance membrane in the Powchaser Anorak is waterproof, breathable and windproof. Every seam is sealed, and the polyester shell has a DWR treatment so water beads off the surface. The insulation is PrimaLoft Black Eco at 40 g, a light fill that keeps you warm while you ski. On very cold days it is not enough as your only warm layer. With insulation and a stated weight of 800 g, the anorak can run warm during sustained uphill effort.
Which size of the Powchaser Anorak should I choose?
The Helly Hansen Powchaser Anorak has a relaxed, boxy cut, articulated elbows and a tail drop that adds length at the back. Compare your measurements with the Helly Hansen women's size chart on this product page. Then choose the size that matches them. The front zip only opens halfway, so the anorak has to pull comfortably over your head and the layers you wear underneath. On very cold days, plan a warm layer under it.
How is the Helly Hansen Powchaser Anorak constructed?
The Helly Hansen Powchaser Anorak is built in three parts that work together. On the outside is a 100% polyester shell with 2-way mechanical stretch, so the fabric gives in two directions when you reach for a pole plant or twist on the chairlift. Behind the shell sits the HELLY TECH Performance membrane, which is waterproof, windproof and breathable. All seams are sealed, so water cannot get in through the stitching, and a DWR treatment makes rain and wet snow bead off the face fabric. Inside, PrimaLoft Black Eco 40 g synthetic insulation adds warmth, with a lining in 100% polyester and a second lining in 100% polyamide.
The details of the Powchaser ski anorak seal out weather where it usually gets in. A storm flap runs behind the YKK front half zip. A high collar with a soft fleece chin guard closes around your neck. The helmet-compatible hood adjusts both vertically and horizontally and has a neon-coloured brim. Adjustable cuffs, a drawcord hem and an adjustable powder skirt close the openings at the wrists and waist.
Is the Powchaser Anorak suitable for side-country and off-piste skiing?
The Helly Hansen Powchaser Anorak is designed for resort skiers who also ski the side-country. The adjustable powder skirt keeps snow out of your layers when you ski deep snow or take a fall off-piste. The hood fits over a helmet, and articulated elbows give you freedom of movement. A RECCO reflector is built in. The anorak works best for lift-served skiing and short hikes from the lift. For ski touring with long, sustained climbs it is not the right choice: the insulated 800 g anorak can run warm on the ascent. It is not made for high-alpine mountaineering or climbing either.
What pockets does the Helly Hansen Powchaser Anorak have?
The Helly Hansen Powchaser Anorak carries its storage at the front, as a pull-over anorak should. The big kangaroo pocket holds gloves, a buff or snacks. Chest handwarmer pockets warm your hands between runs. The LIFE POCKET is designed to help your phone battery last longer in cold conditions. There is also a dedicated ski pass pocket, a zip pocket and an inner chest pocket with zip for items you do not want to lose on the lift.
What is the Helly Hansen Powchaser Anorak made of?
The shell of the Helly Hansen Powchaser Anorak is 100% polyester with 2-way mechanical stretch. The PrimaLoft Black Eco insulation is 100% polyester. The lining is 100% polyester, and a second lining is 100% polyamide. The waterproof, breathable and windproof function comes from the HELLY TECH Performance membrane, the fully sealed seams and the DWR treatment on the outer fabric.
