What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • 60 g stretch insulation keeps a slim silhouette
  • Side zip for easy on/off and toilet breaks
  • RECCO reflector and back-thigh vent zips
  • Slim cut: little room for thick layers underneath
  • Insulated: runs warm on long climbs and spring days
  • Light 60 g: add warm base layers in deep cold

The Helly Hansen Alphelia Ski Bib Pants are women's insulated ski bib pants for resort skiing, with 60 g stretch insulation, a 2-layer HELLY TECH Performance construction with fully sealed seams and a 4-way stretch shell. They are built to keep you warm in a slim silhouette and have a side zipper for easy on and off, including toilet breaks.

Who are the Helly Hansen Alphelia Ski Bib Pants for?

The Helly Hansen Alphelia Ski Bib Pants suit women who ski mainly at the resort and want warm ski bibs that move with them. They are not made for ski touring or long uphill ascents. With 60 g insulation you will overheat, and the back-thigh zips are the only ventilation. They are not a high-alpine hardshell, they run too warm for mild spring days, and if you prefer a waist-height ski trouser without suspenders, a different model will suit you better.

How warm and waterproof are the Alphelia Ski Bib Pants?

The Alphelia ski bib pants use 60 g lightweight stretch insulation in 100% polyester. This light insulation adds warmth without bulk. On very cold days, wear a warmer base layer underneath. Weather protection comes from the 2-layer HELLY TECH Performance membrane with fully sealed seams, which keeps snow and wet out while letting moisture escape. When you work hard, open the back-thigh ventilation zippers to release heat.

Which size of the Helly Hansen Alphelia Ski Bib Pants should I choose?

The Helly Hansen Alphelia Ski Bib Pants have a slim cut. Adjustable suspenders and an adjustable waist with fastener let you fine-tune the fit, and the zipped, expandable leg opening goes over ski boots. The slim cut leaves little room for a thick fleece or insulated trouser underneath. If you plan to layer up, compare your measurements with the size chart on this page before you order.

How are the Helly Hansen Alphelia Ski Bib Pants built?

The Helly Hansen Alphelia Ski Bib Pants combine three elements. The outer shell is a 4-way stretch fabric in 85% polyamide and 15% elastane, so it stretches in every direction when you bend, kneel or drive into a turn. Behind the shell sits the HELLY TECH Performance membrane in a 2-layer construction, with every seam sealed so water cannot get in through the stitching. Inside, 60 g lightweight stretch insulation in 100% polyester adds warmth and stretches with the shell instead of working against it. Articulated knees complete the cut, so the Alphelia bib follows your legs in a flexed skiing stance rather than pulling at the knee.

What do the Alphelia Ski Bib Pants do on the piste and off-piste?

The Helly Hansen Alphelia Ski Bib Pants are designed first for piste skiing. The bib construction with adjustable suspenders covers your lower back and stops the pants from slipping when you sit on the lift or fall in deep snow. Boot gaiters with gripper seal around your ski boots, and boot hooks on the front leg hem keep the pants in place. The lower legs have a printed reinforcement for durability where boots and skis make contact. Helly Hansen also lists off-piste skiing for the Alphelia bib, and the coverage and gaiters help keep snow out on lift-served powder days. A RECCO reflector is integrated, which allows organised rescue teams to locate you with a RECCO detector. A chest pocket and hand-warmer pockets on the bust with brushed lining keep small items and cold hands close. The Alphelia ski bib pants stop where effort takes over: for ski touring, long climbs, high-alpine mountaineering or climbing, the insulation runs too warm and the back-thigh zippers are the only ventilation.

What are the Alphelia Ski Bib Pants made of, and how do you wash them?

The shell of the Helly Hansen Alphelia Ski Bib Pants is 85% polyamide and 15% elastane. The linings are 86% polyester with 14% elastane and 100% polyamide, and the insulation is 100% polyester. Washing correctly protects the membrane and the print. Close all zippers and the hook-and-loop fasteners before washing, and wash with similar colours. Do not soak the bib, do not use fabric softener, and do not iron on the printed reinforcement on the lower legs. Fabric softener can clog a membrane fabric and reduce its ability to let moisture out, so a clean wash without additives keeps the Alphelia bib working as designed.

Are the Helly Hansen Alphelia Ski Bib Pants made with bluesign material?

Yes. The main material of the Helly Hansen Alphelia Ski Bib Pants is bluesign material.
