What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
  • If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

The Helly Hansen Swift Team Jacket is a men's insulated ski jacket for resort and on-piste skiing. It has a waterproof, breathable and windproof HELLY TECH® Performance 2-layer construction and 60 g PrimaLoft® Black Eco synthetic insulation. Its technology and styling reference the jackets Helly Hansen designed for Norway's National Ski Federation, and it adds an articulated cut, mechanical stretch panels and underarm mesh vents.

Who is the Helly Hansen Swift Team Jacket for?

The Swift Team Jacket suits skiers who spend full days on groomed runs and want an insulated ski jacket with ski-specific details. These include a helmet-compatible adjustable hood, a high collar, a ski pass pocket and a tail drop. Helly Hansen also lists it for alpine racing and off-piste skiing. It is not a ski touring jacket, because the built-in insulation runs warm on long climbs, even with the vents open. It is also not designed for climbing or technical mountaineering.

How warm is the Helly Hansen Swift Team Jacket?

The Swift Team Jacket uses 60 g PrimaLoft® Black Eco, a light, blowable synthetic insulation with a puffer-style look. That is light insulation. It is warm enough for active skiing, but on cold days with long static periods you need a warm midlayer underneath. The insulation cannot be removed, so on mild spring days the jacket is less versatile than an uninsulated shell. Underarm vents with mesh let you release excess heat on the move.

Which size of the Swift Team Jacket should I choose?

The Helly Hansen Swift Team Jacket has a regular fit with an articulated cut and strategically placed mechanical stretch panels for freedom of movement. Choose your size by comparing your body measurements with the Helly Hansen men's jacket size chart on this page. If you plan to wear a thick midlayer underneath, keep that layer in mind when you compare.

How is the Helly Hansen Swift Team Jacket constructed?

The Helly Hansen Swift Team Jacket combines three components. The outer layer is a HELLY TECH® Performance 2-layer construction that is waterproof, breathable and windproof. Its polyester shell fabric has a water repellent treatment. Under the shell sits 60 g PrimaLoft® Black Eco, a blowable synthetic insulation that gives the jacket its light puffer-style character. A 100% polyester lining, solution dyed with e.dye®, finishes the inside. The zippers are from YKK®.

Heat management on the Swift Team Jacket is mechanical. The underarm vents are backed with mesh, and they are the jacket's way to dump heat when you work hard. An articulated cut and strategically placed mechanical stretch panels keep the Helly Hansen Swift Team Jacket mobile on the slopes.

How does the Swift Team Jacket work on the piste?

The Helly Hansen Swift Team Jacket is built around a piste concept: resort days with lift rides, fast runs and changing weather. The hood is adjustable and helmet-compatible. The high protective collar shields your neck and chin. Adjustable cuffs and an adjustable hem let you close the jacket against snow and wind, and the tail drop extends the back. A ski pass pocket, chest pocket, hand pockets and an inside stash pocket keep your essentials organised. The LIFE POCKET™ is designed to help preserve your phone battery in deep cold.

Can you use the Swift Team Jacket off-piste or for ski touring?

Helly Hansen lists the Swift Team Jacket for off-piste skiing and alpine racing as well as resort skiing, so it is not limited to groomed runs. Ski touring and long uphill efforts are a different matter. The 60 g insulation is built in, so the Helly Hansen Swift Team Jacket will run warm on the climb even with the underarm vents open. For touring, climbing or technical mountaineering, an uninsulated shell is the better tool.

What is the Swift Team Jacket made of, and how do you care for it?

The shell, lining and insulation of the Helly Hansen Swift Team Jacket are all 100% polyester, and the main material is bluesign®. Before washing, close all zippers and hook-and-loop fasteners, then turn the jacket inside out. Wash dark colours separately and do not use fabric softener. Tumble dry the Swift Team Jacket afterwards, because this reactivates the water repellent treatment on the shell fabric.

Which sustainability features does the Swift Team Jacket have?

The Helly Hansen Swift Team Jacket uses a bluesign® main material, an e.dye® solution dyed lining and PrimaLoft® Black Eco insulation.
