Meer informatieWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 60 g PrimaLoft® BLACK Eco insulation for cold days
- Beacon pocket and RECCO® reflector for off-piste
- Back-thigh vent zips and a rear vent opening
- 60 g fill runs warm on long uphill skinning
- 740 g: heavier than a shell or touring pant
- Stretch limited to the bib's back panel
The Helly Hansen Sogn Bib Cargo Pant is a pair of men's insulated ski bib pants built for freeride and backcountry skiing. A 2-layer HELLY TECH® Protection construction makes it waterproof, breathable and windproof. The bib also adds 60 g PrimaLoft® BLACK Eco insulation, a beacon-specific waist pocket and a RECCO® reflector.
Who is the Helly Hansen Sogn Bib Cargo Pant for?
The Helly Hansen Sogn Bib Cargo Pant suits skiers who head off-piste and into the backcountry and want insulation, avalanche-gear storage and snow protection in one bib. It also works for resort skiing, shorter ski tours and snowshoeing. It is not the right choice for long, high-output tours or skinning in mild spring conditions, where the 60 g insulation runs warm even with the vents open. Fast-and-light tourers, skiers who prefer an uninsulated shell bib and anyone looking for a climbing or alpine mountaineering pant are better served by a different model.
How warm and weatherproof is the Helly Hansen Sogn Bib Cargo Pant?
The Sogn Bib Cargo Pant pairs a 2-layer HELLY TECH® Protection shell, fully sealed seams and a DWR treatment with 60 g PrimaLoft® BLACK Eco insulation. That is light insulation inside a waterproof, windproof outer. Back-thigh ventilation zippers and a ventilation opening in the back let you release heat when you work hard. The bib weighs 740 g. It is a 2-layer construction with lining and insulation, not a 3-layer hardshell.
Which size of the Sogn Bib Cargo Pant should I choose?
The Helly Hansen Sogn Bib Cargo Pant has an articulated cut with articulated knees, plus lightweight stretch fabric on the bib's back panel for mobility. The elastic suspenders and the waist are adjustable, and there are belt loops, so you can fine-tune the fit once you have chosen your size. Compare your body measurements with the Helly Hansen men's pants size chart on this page. Skistore Swing offers sizes S, M, L and XL; 2XL is not available here.
How is the Helly Hansen Sogn Bib Cargo Pant constructed?
The Helly Hansen Sogn Bib Cargo Pant is built around a 2-layer HELLY TECH® Protection construction: a 100% polyamide outer fabric bonded to a waterproof, breathable and windproof membrane, with a separate 100% polyester lining on the inside. Between shell and lining sits 60 g PrimaLoft® BLACK Eco, a 100% polyester synthetic insulation. Every seam is fully sealed, so water cannot enter through the stitch holes, and a Durable Water Repellency (DWR) treatment makes water bead off the outer fabric. The front closes with a zippered fly behind a storm flap, and all zippers on this insulated ski bib are YKK®.
Is the Helly Hansen Sogn Bib Cargo Pant good for freeride and ski touring?
Off-piste is where the Helly Hansen Sogn Bib Cargo Pant is most at home. A beacon-specific waist pocket keeps your transceiver in a dedicated place, and a RECCO® reflector is built in so rescue teams with RECCO® detectors can locate you. Two cargo pockets, a chest pocket and hand pockets give room for skins, a phone, snacks and goggle wipes. Snow gaiters at the bottom of the legs close the gap over your ski boots in deep snow, and reinforcement fabric on the lower legs and hem protects the areas most exposed to ski edges and crampon-free scrambles over rocks. On a short skin to a line, the back-thigh ventilation zippers and the ventilation opening in the back help you stay comfortable.
The Sogn Bib Cargo Pant has clear limits as a touring pant. With 60 g insulation it is warmer than a shell bib, so expect to overheat on sustained uphill efforts or on warm days, even with the vents open. At 740 g it is heavier than an uninsulated touring or shell pant. The stretch fabric is limited to the bib's back panel, so overall the bib offers less stretch than a softshell pant. For long, high-output tours, choose a lighter, uninsulated touring pant instead.
Can I wear the Sogn Bib Cargo Pant for resort skiing?
Yes. The Helly Hansen Sogn Bib Cargo Pant is also suitable for resort skiing and snowshoeing. The bib cut covers your lower back when you sit on a chairlift or kneel in the snow, and the insulation adds warmth on cold resort days without a separate insulated layer underneath.
What is the Helly Hansen Sogn Bib Cargo Pant made of, and how do I care for it?
The shell of the Helly Hansen Sogn Bib Cargo Pant is 100% polyamide, while the lining and the insulation are both 100% polyester. To keep the waterproof and breathable performance intact, close all zippers and hook-and-loop fasteners before washing, wash dark colours separately and never use fabric softener. Do not soak the bib and do not iron on the print. Tumble dry the garment after washing: the heat reactivates the DWR treatment so water beads off the shell again. Remove the bib from the dryer promptly.
Is the Helly Hansen Sogn Bib Cargo Pant a bluesign® product?
Yes. The Helly Hansen Sogn Bib Cargo Pant is a bluesign® product, and its insulation is PrimaLoft® BLACK Eco.
