What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
  • If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certified
  • 6% elastane in the knit for stretch
  • Embroidered HH logo on a unisex knit
  • Plain knit: not for rain, wet snow or strong wind
  • One size only, no head-size options
  • Not designed to be worn under a helmet

The Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie is a unisex knitted beanie for winter days in town, on the commute and at camp. It is knitted from 88% polyester, 6% polyamide and 6% elastane, carries an embroidered HH logo and is certified to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS).

Who is the Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie for?

The Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie from the HH Sportswear line suits anyone who wants a simple everyday beanie for city life, commuting and camping trips in winter. Helly Hansen makes it to keep you warm in exactly those settings. It is not ski-specific headwear. It is not designed to be worn under a ski or climbing helmet, and it is not made for very cold high-alpine or expedition conditions.

How warm and weatherproof is the Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie?

The Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie is a plain knit in 88% polyester, 6% polyamide and 6% elastane. That makes it a warm layer for everyday winter cold in town and at camp, not weather protection. In rain or wet snow, choose waterproof headwear. On exposed ridges or windy lifts, a hood or a windproof layer will protect you better than this knit beanie.

Which size of the Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie should I choose?

The Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie comes in one size only and is cut as a unisex beanie for men and women. The 6% elastane in the knit gives it stretch. If you need a beanie in a specific head size, a one-size model like the Soft Rib Beanie may not be the right choice for you.

How is the Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie made?

The Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie is a knitted beanie made from one fabric blend: 88% polyester, 6% polyamide and 6% elastane. Polyester makes up the bulk of the knit, polyamide is blended in, and elastane is the stretch fibre in the mix. It is a plain knit construction, not a laminated or padded shell, so the character of the beanie comes from the knitted fabric itself. The Helly Hansen logo is embroidered onto the knit as an HH emblem.

Can you wear the Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie for skiing?

The Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie belongs to the HH Sportswear line and is positioned for winter, urban and city life, commuting and camping. It is not designed as a helmet liner, so it is not the beanie to wear under a ski helmet on the piste, off-piste or while climbing. On a winter trip the Soft Rib Beanie belongs to the hours without a helmet: walking through town, commuting or sitting around camp. For very cold high-alpine days or expeditions, choose insulated headwear instead. For rain, wet snow or strong wind on exposed ridges and lifts, choose dedicated waterproof or windproof headwear, or wear a weatherproof hood.

Does the Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie fit both men and women?

The Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie is a unisex design, offered in a single size for everyone. There is no separate men's or women's version and no choice between head sizes. That keeps ordering simple, but it also means the Soft Rib Beanie is not the right pick for shoppers who want a beanie matched to a specific head measurement.

How do you wash and care for the Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie?

Wash the Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie inside out and together with similar colours. After washing, reshape the beanie while it is still damp, so the knit dries in its intended form. The knit consists of 88% polyester, 6% polyamide and 6% elastane, a fully synthetic blend, so there is no wool in the beanie that needs special wool care.

Is the Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie made with recycled materials?

The Helly Hansen Soft Rib Beanie is a Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certified product. The Global Recycled Standard is a certification for products that contain recycled material. For shoppers who look for that label on their winter accessories, the GRS certification is a concrete, checkable reference point on the Soft Rib Beanie.
