What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
  • If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

5. Refund

You will receive confirmation by e-mail when your return has been received and processed.

This is usually within a few days after your order has been delivered to us. The money will then be refunded to the account you paid with within a week after confirmation (usually longer for credit card payments). If you have chosen to pay afterwards, this will be adjusted on your Klarna invoice.

Please note! If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

Product information
  • 80 g PrimaLoft® Gold Cross Core insulation
  • H2FLOW™ AIR FORCE vents to regulate temperature
  • Stretch shell with 5% elastane, articulated sleeves
  • Fixed 80 g insulation: too warm for long climbs
  • Insulation not removable, no shell-only option
  • Bulkier than a pure shell for high-output skiing

The Helly Hansen Atlas Infinity Stretch Jacket is a men's insulated ski jacket for experienced skiers who ski fast on the piste and race. It pairs a waterproof LIFA INFINITY™ stretch shell with 80 g PrimaLoft® Gold Cross Core insulation and H2FLOW™ AIR FORCE VENTILATION, so warmth, freedom of movement and temperature control come in one jacket.

Who is the Atlas Infinity Stretch Jacket for?

The Helly Hansen Atlas Infinity Stretch Jacket is built for resort skiing, alpine racing and fast-paced piste skiing. Helly Hansen also lists it for off-piste days, and a RECCO® reflector, a detachable helmet-compatible hood and an adjustable stretch powder skirt back that up. It is not the right ski jacket for sustained uphill ski touring, high-alpine mountaineering or climbing. It is also not a light, packable emergency layer.

How warm is the Atlas Infinity Stretch Jacket?

The Atlas Infinity Stretch Jacket is insulated with 80 g PrimaLoft® Gold Cross Core, with a separate polyester insulation in the back body. That makes it a ski jacket with built-in warmth, not a shell. The insulation is fixed. On mild or spring days you regulate temperature by opening the H2FLOW™ AIR FORCE VENTILATION, not by removing a layer. If you prefer an uninsulated shell so you can build your own layering system, choose a different ski jacket.

Which size should I choose?

Freedom of movement in the Helly Hansen Atlas Infinity Stretch Jacket comes from the stretch shell with 5% elastane and from articulated sleeves, so the jacket moves with you when you ski. The hood fits over a ski helmet. Compare your chest measurement with the Helly Hansen men's size chart on this product page before you order. Because the insulation is built in, you will usually wear fewer layers underneath than with an uninsulated shell.

How is the Atlas Infinity Stretch Jacket built?

The Helly Hansen Atlas Infinity Stretch Jacket is constructed in three parts. The outer shell uses LIFA INFINITY™ stretch technology in a fabric of 95% polyamide and 5% elastane, with waterproofing and a water-repellent treatment on the surface. Beneath the shell sits 80 g PrimaLoft® Gold Cross Core insulation made of 100% polyester, plus a separate polyester insulation in the back body. A 100% polyester lining finishes the inside. H2FLOW™ AIR FORCE VENTILATION technology lets you manage your temperature when the effort rises, and the shoulders carry an extra layer of reinforcement fabric.

Is the Atlas Infinity Stretch Jacket suitable for racing and fast piste skiing?

Piste skiing and racing are what the Helly Hansen Atlas Infinity Stretch Jacket is designed around. Articulated sleeves and the stretch shell keep your arms free, and elastic cuffs with thumbholes sit under your gloves alongside the adjustable cuffs. The details are made for lift days: a chest pocket with a goggle wipe, a ski pass pocket, chest and hand pockets with YKK® zippers and an inner zipped chest pocket. The LIFE POCKET+™ with a phone holder and a phone leash helps keep your phone battery running longer in the cold.

Can I take the Atlas Infinity Stretch Jacket off-piste?

The Helly Hansen Atlas Infinity Stretch Jacket is listed by Helly Hansen for off-piste skiing as well. The adjustable stretch powder skirt keeps snow out in deep snow and folds away into its own zipped pocket when you do not need it. The RECCO® reflector can help rescue teams locate you, and the detachable hood with drawcord fits over your helmet. The adjustable bottom hem lets you close the jacket down around your hips.

Is the Atlas Infinity Stretch Jacket a good choice for ski touring?

The Atlas Infinity Stretch Jacket is not built for ski touring. The 80 g PrimaLoft® insulation is fixed, so on long climbs you will get hot, even with the H2FLOW™ vents open. An insulated construction is also warmer and bulkier than a pure shell during high-output skiing. For high-alpine mountaineering and climbing you need a technical mountain shell, which this piste and racing jacket is not meant to be.

What is the Atlas Infinity Stretch Jacket made of, and how do I wash it?

The Helly Hansen Atlas Infinity Stretch Jacket has a shell of 95% polyamide and 5% elastane, a 100% polyester lining and 100% polyester insulation throughout. Wash it with a liquid washing agent made for technical garments and leave out fabric softener. Close all zippers and hook-and-loop fastenings first, and wash dark colours separately. Tumble dry the ski jacket afterwards: the heat reactivates the water-repellent treatment on the shell.
