Meer informatieWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- GORE-TEX shell and Coreloft insulation in one
- RECCO reflector built into the StormHood
- Powder skirt clips to pants via Slide 'n Loc
- Fixed insulation: pit zips are the only vent
- Too warm and bulky for high-output touring
- Not packable as a spare layer in a small pack
The Arc'teryx Sabre Insulated Jacket is a men's insulated, waterproof GORE-TEX ski and snowboard jacket built for freeride and resort riding in cold winter conditions. Coreloft synthetic insulation is built into the shell, so a single jacket handles both weather protection and warmth instead of a shell plus a separate midlayer. Snowsport detailing runs right through it: a helmet-compatible StormHood, an integrated powder skirt, a RECCO reflector and a sleeve pocket sized for an RFID lift pass.
Who is the Sabre Insulated Jacket for?
This is the jacket for a resort and freeride skier or snowboarder who wants one warm, waterproof piece for full cold days on the lift and in the trees, rather than assembling a layering system. It also works for winter hiking, snowshoeing in cold wind and plain winter wear. It is not the right choice for high-output ski touring and long bootpacks, for technical rock climbing or fast-and-light alpinism, or as a packable emergency layer in a small pack.
How warm and weatherproof is the Arc'teryx Sabre Insulated Jacket?
A GORE-TEX membrane keeps wind and wet snow out, and Coreloft synthetic insulation supplies the warmth. The insulation is fixed, so your only way to cool down is the pit zippers, which are backed with PowderGuard mesh to vent without letting snow in. On mild spring days, riders who run hot will find a jacket with a removable midlayer more adaptable.
Which size should you choose in the Sabre Insulated Jacket?
Arc'teryx cuts the Sabre Insulated Jacket in a Regular fit: comfortable through chest, waist, hip and thigh, with room for a base layer and a midlayer underneath. It comes in XS, S, M, L, XL and 2XL. Compare your chest, waist and sleeve measurements with the Arc'teryx men's tops size chart on this page, and pay particular attention to sleeve length if you have shorter arms.
How is the Arc'teryx Sabre Insulated Jacket built?
The Arc'teryx Sabre Insulated Jacket is a one-piece system rather than a shell: a waterproof, windproof GORE-TEX outer with Coreloft synthetic insulation inside it, including insulated hand pockets and an insulated hood. Coreloft is a synthetic fill, not down. The hood is the adjustable StormHood, cut to fit over a ski or snowboard helmet, with a RECCO reflector integrated into it so organised rescue teams with a RECCO detector can pick up your position. An integrated powder skirt seals the hem, and Slide 'n Loc snaps let you connect it directly to compatible Arc'teryx pants and bibs so the jacket and trousers stay joined on a deep day.
Is the Sabre Insulated Jacket suitable for ski touring?
No. The Sabre Insulated Jacket is aimed at freeride and lift-served skiing and snowboarding in cold conditions, where you ride down more than you walk up. For high-output touring and long bootpacks, an uninsulated shell with a separately adjustable midlayer vents and adapts better, and carries less bulk in a pack. The same applies to technical rock climbing and fast-and-light alpinism: the insulation, powder skirt and pant attachment are weight you do not need there. Where this jacket earns its place is a full cold day at the resort, off-piste laps in wind and snowfall, winter hiking and snowshoeing, and the walk into town afterwards.
What pockets and venting does the Sabre Insulated Jacket have?
Storage on the Arc'teryx Sabre Insulated Jacket is organised around a lift day. Two insulated zippered hand pockets, an external chest pocket, an internal zippered chest pocket for a phone or wallet, and an internal mesh dump pocket for goggles, skins-free odds and ends or a spare pair of gloves. A small zippered pocket on the left shoulder is sized for an RFID lift pass, so the gates read it without you unzipping anything. Temperature control comes from the pit zippers, backed with PowderGuard mesh so you can run them open in the trees without scooping snow inside.
How do you wash the Sabre Insulated Jacket?
Machine wash the Sabre Insulated Jacket on permanent press at a medium temperature, on its own, with every zipper and fastening closed. Skip bleach and fabric softener, both of which work against the water-repellent behaviour of the face fabric, and do not dry clean or iron. A double rinse removes detergent residue from the insulation, and a front-loading machine is kinder to the garment; in a top loader, use a mesh laundry bag. A detergent made for down and synthetic insulation, such as Nu Down Detergent, suits this construction better than standard laundry liquid. Tumble dry on permanent press, low.
Which colours is the Sabre Insulated Jacket available in?
