What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

The Arc'teryx Rush Bib Pant is an uninsulated, waterproof three-layer GORE-TEX bib pant for women, built for ski touring and equally at home on freeride lines and resort days. Its half-waist bib cut, full-length side zippers and internal powder cuffs are the core of the design, and the upper bib panel is a four-way-stretch softshell rather than hard shell fabric. A RECCO reflector is built in.

Who is the Rush Bib Pant for?

This bib is for a woman who skins up and skis down in changing weather and wants weather protection without added bulk: three-layer GORE-TEX on the legs, thigh vents for the climb, powder cuffs for the descent. The Arc'teryx Rush Bib Pant is not the right choice if you want a drop seat, if you need a hem you can cinch down over a touring or cross-country boot, or if you want warmth from the garment itself.

How weatherproof is it?

The legs use a three-layer GORE-TEX laminate, which is waterproof and windproof and keeps the construction thin enough to move in. Zippered thigh vents and full-length side zippers let you dump heat on the uphill. The upper bib panel is stretch softshell, so it moves well but offers less weather protection than the legs, and it breathes less than the shell fabric on high-output days.

Which size should you choose?

Arc'teryx states a Regular fit: cut comfortably through waist, hip and thigh, with articulated knees. It is offered in S, M and L. Sizing feedback on this model is genuinely mixed, so measure your waist, hip and inseam and compare them with the women's bottoms size chart on this page rather than ordering by habit. The half-waist bib leaves room for a base layer and a midlayer underneath, and sits comfortably under regular and relaxed fit shell jackets.

How is the Arc'teryx Rush Bib Pant built?

The Arc'teryx Rush Bib Pant uses a three-layer GORE-TEX laminate through the legs and seat: face fabric, membrane and backer bonded into one panel, so there is no loose lining to shift or soak. Above the waist the construction changes. The bib panel is a four-way-stretch softshell, chosen for movement rather than for weather protection, which keeps the shoulder straps and chest comfortable under a pack hipbelt and a jacket. Articulated knees shape the legs for a long stride, Keprotec patches reinforce the instep at the inner lower legs where edges, crampons and boot buckles do their damage, and a RECCO reflector is integrated into the garment.

Is it suitable for ski touring?

Touring is what this bib pant was built around. Zippered thigh vents and full-length side zippers give you two stages of ventilation on the skin track, and the side zippers also mean you can manage a bathroom stop without taking the shoulder straps off, since there is no drop seat. On the descent, internal powder cuffs at the leg hems seal against the boot, and the half-waist bib keeps snow out of the lower back in deep conditions. Two zippered bib pockets and brushed-lined hand pockets handle skins, gloves and a phone. Where it stops: the hems cannot be tightened around a boot, so snow protection depends on the powder cuff alone, which matters if you ski a touring or cross-country boot. There is no insulation at all, so on cold, static days your warmth comes entirely from your base layer and midlayer. And on warm, high-output climbs, the softshell bib panel is the part of the garment that will feel damp first.

What are the colours and how do you care for it?

The Rush Bib Pant is offered in Tatsu and in Black, a near-black with no visible second tone. A three-layer laminate rewards regular washing: dirt and body oils on the face fabric are what make water stop beading. Machine wash on a medium cycle, close all fastenings first, wash it separately without fabric softener and run a double rinse so no detergent stays in the laminate. Tumble dry on medium heat, which also helps reactivate the water-repellent finish on the face fabric. Do not bleach, do not iron and do not dry clean, and take the bib out of the machine as soon as the cycle ends rather than leaving it wet.
