What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 160 gsm SUPIMA cotton jersey, 138 g total
- Shoulder seams placed to sit under pack straps
- 225 gsm 1x1 SUPIMA rib contrast fabric
- No membrane or DWR: no rain or wind protection
- Cotton holds sweat and dries slowly
- Stocked in S, M and L only
The Arc'teryx Kragg SL Cotton Emblem Crew Shirt is a women's short-sleeve cotton crew-neck T-shirt for warm-weather rock climbing, bouldering and hiking. It is knitted from 160 gsm SUPIMA long-staple cotton jersey, weighs 138 g and has its shoulder seams moved off the top of the shoulder so they stay comfortable under pack straps. It is a comfort and freedom-of-movement layer, not a weather-protective or moisture-managing technical top.
Who is this T-shirt for?
The Kragg SL Cotton Emblem Crew Shirt fits a woman who climbs, boulders or hikes in warm conditions and wants a soft, roomy cotton tee rather than a quick-drying synthetic shirt. It carries over easily into everyday and travel wear. It is not a shirt for wet or windy days: there is no membrane, no water-repellent treatment and no wind protection. It also does not work as a high-output base layer in the cold, because cotton absorbs sweat and dries slowly.
How does the 160 gsm SUPIMA cotton perform?
The body of the Arc'teryx Kragg SL Cotton Emblem Crew Shirt is a single layer of 160 gsm SUPIMA premium long-staple cotton jersey, with a denser 225 gsm 1x1 SUPIMA cotton rib as contrast fabric. Total garment weight is 138 g. One layer of 160 gsm cotton gives you no insulation on its own, so once temperatures drop you need a midlayer over it.
Which size should you choose?
Arc'teryx cuts the Kragg SL Cotton Emblem Crew Shirt as a regular fit: comfortable through chest, waist, hip and thigh, with a roomy, airy feel rather than a close one. It layers over or under other Arc'teryx layers. This style is stocked in S, M and L only. Check your chest and waist against the Arc'teryx women's tops size chart on this page before you order.
How is the Arc'teryx Kragg SL Cotton Emblem Crew Shirt constructed?
Two knits, both 100% SUPIMA cotton. The body is a premium long-staple cotton jersey at 160 gsm. The contrast fabric is the same cotton in a 1x1 rib at 225 gsm, a denser knit that holds its shape. There is no membrane, no lining and no insulation anywhere in the garment: it is a single knitted layer from hem to sleeve. The detail that separates it from a plain tee is the shoulder. Arc'teryx places the shoulder seams dynamically, away from the load line, so they improve freedom of movement and sit comfortably under pack straps. The SL in the name is the brand's superlight designation, a line that emphasises low weight and packability over durability, and at 138 g the Kragg SL Cotton Emblem Crew Shirt belongs to it. Both the Arc'teryx word logo and the Bird logo appear on the shirt.
Is the Kragg SL Cotton Emblem Crew Shirt suitable for climbing and hiking?
For warm, dry days, yes. Arc'teryx lists rock climbing, bouldering and hiking as the intended activities for the Kragg SL Cotton Emblem Crew Shirt, and the build follows that: a roomy cut that does not bind when you reach, and seam placement that stays out of the way under a pack. It stops where the weather starts. Without a membrane or a water-repellent finish there is nothing between you and rain or wind, and a cotton jersey holds moisture on a sustained hike-in instead of moving it away. Where abrasion resistance matters most, a superlight cotton tee is not the most hard-wearing choice in the Arc'teryx range.
What is it made of and how do you wash it?
The Arc'teryx Kragg SL Cotton Emblem Crew Shirt is 100% SUPIMA cotton in both the 160 gsm jersey body and the 225 gsm rib contrast. Fabric, dyeing and manufacture all take place in Colombia, with sewing at CRYSTAL S. A. S. in Pereira. Washing is straightforward: machine wash low, tumble dry gentle and low, iron low, no bleach, no dry cleaning and no fabric softener, which coats cotton fibres and dulls the hand of the jersey. Wash dark shades separately. There is no durable water repellent finish on this shirt, so nothing needs re-proofing over its life. On colour: White Light is an off-white with a faint cool lilac cast, and Black is a near-black with a very slight green cast.
What are the sustainability credentials?
This style is PFAS compliant and appears in the Arc'teryx product facets as Fair Trade Certified, with fabric, dyeing and sewing all carried out in Colombia. The fibre itself is SUPIMA long-staple cotton, which Arc'teryx uses because longer staples produce softer and longer-lasting fabrics.
