What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.
GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Returning (part of) your order is at your own risk. Keep the proof of delivery until we have received and processed your package.
Please note! After registering your return online, you have 14 days to return your parcel to the postal service. If you return the parcel after these 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return.
5. Refund
You will receive confirmation by e-mail when your return has been received and processed.
This is usually within a few days after your order has been delivered to us. The money will then be refunded to the account you paid with within a week after confirmation (usually longer for credit card payments). If you have chosen to pay afterwards, this will be adjusted on your Klarna invoice.
Please note! If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

- 240 g/m2 combed cotton jersey, heavyweight
- Gusseted underarms keep your reach free
- PFAS compliant and Fair Trade Certified
- No membrane, no DWR: useless in rain or snow
- 100% cotton holds sweat and dries slowly
- Runs large; only M, L and XL offered
The Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Shirt LS is a men's long-sleeve climbing shirt in 240 g/m2 combed cotton jersey, built for cragging, bouldering and dry-weather days out. Gusseted underarms keep your reach free when you pull on a hold, and the relaxed cut sits away from the body. What sets it apart is the weight of the fabric: this is a heavyweight cotton shirt at 375 g, with no membrane and no water-repellent finish.
Who is the Kragg Cotton Shirt LS for?
Pick the Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Shirt LS if you want a roomy, hard-wearing cotton long-sleeve for the crag, the bouldering gym, mild hikes, travel and everyday wear. It is the wrong choice for rain or snow, for high-output effort in the cold, and for use as a next-to-skin base layer under a ski shell. If you want a close, athletic fit in your usual size, this cut will feel too generous.
How warm and breathable is the shirt?
At 240 g/m2 the combed cotton jersey is dense enough to take the edge off a cool evening at the crag, but the Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Shirt LS has no insulation and no wind resistance. Cotton holds moisture: once it is soaked with sweat or rain it dries slowly and pulls heat from you. Treat it as a dry-conditions shirt and carry a shell if the weather turns.
Which size should you choose?
The Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Shirt LS has a relaxed cut and customers consistently report that it runs large. If you want a close fit, take one size down from your usual. If you want the roomy look the shirt is designed around, stay with your usual size. It is offered here in M, L and XL. Measure your chest and compare it with the size chart on this page before ordering.
What is the Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Shirt LS made of?
The body of the Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Shirt LS is combed cotton jersey at 240 g/m2, 100% cotton throughout. Combing removes the short fibres before spinning, which gives a smoother, more even yarn and a fabric that resists roughening with repeated wear. At that weight the jersey hangs with some body instead of clinging, and the complete shirt weighs 375 g. The construction details are climbing-specific rather than decorative: gusseted underarms add extra fabric where the sleeve meets the body so the hem stays put when you reach overhead, and a ribbed neckband keeps its shape after pulling the shirt on and off.
How does the Kragg Cotton Shirt LS work at the crag?
This is crag and boulder wear. The Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Shirt LS covers your arms against rock, chalk and sun-warmed granite, the gusseted underarms let you move through a long reach without the sleeves pulling, and the relaxed cut leaves room for a harness and a midlayer over the top. Where it stops is clear: there is no membrane, no water-repellent treatment and no wind protection, so it offers nothing in rain or snow. Cotton also makes it unsuitable for cold, sweaty, high-output days, because the fabric soaks up moisture and stays damp. Arc'teryx customer support states the shirt carries no UPF rating, so the full sleeve coverage should not be counted on as deliberate sun protection. At 375 g it is a heavy shirt to carry, which makes it a wear-it-there piece rather than a fast-and-light packing choice.
How do you wash and care for the shirt?
Because the Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Shirt LS is 100% cotton, care is simple but not careless. Machine wash on a low temperature, wash dark colours separately, and skip bleach, fabric softener and dry cleaning. Tumble dry gentle on low heat, or hang it to dry. Arc'teryx customer support notes that the shirt is not officially pre-shrunk and advises cold washing with low-heat or air drying to limit shrinkage. If the shirt needs pressing, iron on a low setting.
What are the sustainability credentials?
The Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Shirt LS is PFAS compliant, meaning it is made without per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, and it carries Fair Trade Certified status as a product facet from the manufacturer. Fabric, dyeing and manufacture all happen in one place: CRYSTAL S.A.S. in Pereira, Colombia, which keeps the supply chain for this shirt unusually short.
