What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 240 gsm combed cotton jersey, 100% cotton
- Gusseted underarms for overhead reach on rock
- Fair Trade Certified and PFAS compliant
- Runs large: size down for a regular tee fit
- 100% cotton absorbs sweat and dries slowly
- 285 g: heavy and bulky for a T-shirt
The Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Logo Shirt SS is a men's short-sleeve T-shirt made from heavyweight combed cotton jersey at 240 gsm, built for rock climbing, bouldering and the walk in to the crag. What separates it from an ordinary tee is that fabric weight combined with a deliberately relaxed cut and gusseted underarms, so reaching overhead does not lift the hem. It is a comfort garment, not a weather layer: no membrane, no insulation, no moisture management.
Who is the Kragg Cotton Logo Shirt SS for?
This shirt suits climbers and hikers who want a durable, substantial cotton tee with a loose, oversized look for boulder sessions, mild-weather hikes, the gym and everyday wear off the mountain. The Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Logo Shirt SS is the wrong choice if you need a ski or snowboard base layer under a shell, if you work hard aerobically in cold or wet conditions, or if you want the lightest possible cotton shirt for hot days, where the Kragg SL is the brand's stated alternative.
How does 100% cotton perform on a long day out?
The body is a single layer of 240 gsm combed cotton jersey, and the shirt weighs 285 g. That density gives you a solid, non-clingy hand feel and a shirt that takes abrasion from rock and pack straps, but cotton absorbs sweat and dries slowly, so it will stay damp once you have worked up a sweat. It also offers no wind, rain or insulation performance of any kind. Plan it for the approach, the belay in mild weather and the drive home, and carry a synthetic or merino shirt when the output goes up.
Which size should you choose?
Arc'teryx cuts the Kragg relaxed: loose through chest, waist, hip and thigh, with room to layer over it. Customers consistently report it wearing larger and more oversized than a standard T-shirt, with a long body and sleeves that sit well down the upper arm. If you want a conventional, closer tee fit, take one size down from your usual. If you want the intended baggy look, stay with your usual size. This listing is stocked in M, L and XL; check the size chart on this page before ordering.
How is the Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Logo Shirt SS constructed?
The Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Logo Shirt SS is a single-layer jersey T-shirt with no lining and no membrane, so everything rests on the knit itself. The body is combed cotton jersey at 240 gsm: combing removes short fibres before spinning, which gives a smoother, more even yarn and a fabric that holds its surface over repeated wear and washing. Gussets in the underarms let the sleeve rotate with your shoulder instead of pulling the body upward, and a knit collar keeps its shape rather than stretching out into a wave. Short sleeves and a logo graphic complete a straightforward, hard-wearing build.
Is this T-shirt suitable for climbing, bouldering and hiking?
Rock, boulder and hike are exactly the activities this shirt was built around. On a cragging day the Kragg Cotton Logo Shirt SS gives you a loose cut that does not bind when you reach, a fabric heavy enough to take rock contact at the base of a boulder problem, and a hem long enough to stay put under a harness. On a mild-weather hike it works well at moderate output. Where it stops is clear: once you are moving hard, or once the weather turns cold, wet or windy, a 100% cotton shirt holds moisture against you and has no protective layer to offer. For skiing and snowboarding it should not be used as the layer next to your skin under a shell.
What is the fabric, and how do you care for it?
The Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Logo Shirt SS is 100% cotton in a 240 gsm jersey, which keeps the garment simple to care for but demands cool treatment. Machine wash on low and tumble dry gentle on low heat; heat is the enemy of a heavyweight cotton knit, and the care instructions exclude hot washing and hot drying. Wash dark colourways, such as the near-black 24K Black, separately for the first few cycles. Do not bleach, do not dry clean and do not use fabric softener, which coats cotton fibres and dulls the surface. Iron on low if you want the collar crisp. At 285 g the shirt is heavy for a tee and packs bulkier than a technical synthetic or merino shirt, so factor that into a weight-conscious pack.
How sustainable is the Kragg Cotton Logo Shirt SS?
The shirt is PFAS compliant, and the style carries Fair Trade Certified status. Fabric, dyeing and manufacture all take place in Colombia, at CRYSTAL S.A.S. in Pereira, which keeps the supply chain concentrated in a single country and makes it short and traceable from yarn to finished garment.
