What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Returning (part of) your order is at your own risk. Keep the proof of delivery until we have received and processed your package.
Please note! After registering your return online, you have 14 days to return your parcel to the postal service. If you return the parcel after these 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return.
5. Refund
You will receive confirmation by e-mail when your return has been received and processed.
This is usually within a few days after your order has been delivered to us. The money will then be refunded to the account you paid with within a week after confirmation (usually longer for credit card payments). If you have chosen to pay afterwards, this will be adjusted on your Klarna invoice.
Please note! If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

- Three-layer GORE-TEX ePE shell at 300 grams
- 80d face fabric with PFAS-compliant FC0 DWR
- RECCO reflector built into the jacket
- No insulation: warmth comes from your layers
- No pit zips, powder skirt or pass pocket
- Hood has a rear pull only, no front adjusters
The Arc'teryx Beta Jacket Women's is an uninsulated three-layer waterproof shell jacket built around a GORE-TEX ePE laminate with a GORE C-KNIT backer, and it weighs 300 grams. It is designed for hiking, mountain walking, travel and daily rain, not for the resort: there is no powder skirt, no pass pocket and no underarm ventilation. The PFC-free ePE membrane sits behind an 80-denier plain weave recycled nylon face fabric with an FC0 DWR finish, and a RECCO reflector is built into the garment.
Who is the Arc'teryx Beta Jacket Women's for?
This is the jacket for someone who wants one durable, fully waterproof shell for hiking, approach walks, travel and wet city days. It is the base model of the Beta line and carries fewer features than the Beta AR, SL and SV. If you are shopping for a dedicated ski or snowboard jacket with a powder skirt, a lift pass pocket and a helmet-compatible hood, the Beta Jacket Women's is not that garment.
How weatherproof is the Beta Jacket Women's?
Three layers of GORE-TEX ePE with a C-KNIT backer make the Arc'teryx Beta Jacket Women's waterproof and windproof, with the backer sitting softly against your midlayer. The WaterTight Vislon front zip has a chin guard, and the low-profile StormHood adjusts with a single rear pull that keeps your field of vision open. There is no insulation at all, so your warmth comes entirely from what you wear underneath.
Which size should you choose in the Beta Jacket Women's?
The Arc'teryx Beta Jacket Women's has a Regular fit: comfortable through chest, waist and hip, with articulated patterning for arm movement. It fits slightly closer at the chest than the Beta AR. Your usual size works over a fitted midlayer; go one size up if you want a looser feel or more freedom of movement. Check the women's size chart on this page, and note that this jacket comes in S, M and L.
How is the Arc'teryx Beta Jacket Women's constructed?
The Arc'teryx Beta Jacket Women's uses a three-layer laminate: an 80-denier plain weave recycled nylon face fabric, a PFC-free GORE-TEX ePE membrane with a polyurethane layer, and a GORE C-KNIT backer bonded to the inside. The C-KNIT backer is a fine circular knit that replaces a loose lining, which keeps the package thin, lets the jacket slide over a midlayer and gives the shell a quieter hand than a plain laminate. An FC0 DWR finish on the face fabric makes rain bead up and run off. Because the backer is bonded rather than hung, there is no separate lining to twist or trap moisture.
Where does the Beta Jacket Women's work, and where does it stop?
Hiking in rain, exposed ridge walks in wind, approach days and travel are where the Beta Jacket Women's belongs. The hem has dual adjusters so you can seal it down over a harness belt or a pack hipbelt, the two hand pockets sit clear of a pack strap, and an internal laminated zip pocket takes a phone or a pass. The RECCO reflector allows organised rescue teams to locate you in an emergency. The limits are clear. There are no pit zips, so on a hard uphill push your only venting is the front zip. The StormHood is low-profile with a single rear pull and no front cord locks, which means it cannot be drawn tight around your face in driving, cold rain, and it is not designed to go over a climbing or ski helmet. For a full resort day with deep snow, the missing powder skirt is a real gap.
What is the Beta Jacket Women's made of and how do you care for it?
The body is 100% nylon, built as an 80d three-layer GORE-TEX ePE construction with a C-KNIT backer and an FC0 DWR finish. Machine wash it on medium, on its own, with all zips and fasteners closed, and give it a double rinse. Skip fabric softener and bleach, and never leave it sitting wet in the machine. A tumble dry on normal medium reactivates the water-repellent finish. Do not iron and do not dry clean. Face fabrics over ePE membranes can wet out a little sooner, so plan on washing and refreshing the DWR more regularly than you might expect; this affects how the surface sheds water, not the waterproofness of the membrane itself.
What are the sustainability credentials of the Beta Jacket Women's?
The GORE-TEX ePE membrane in the Arc'teryx Beta Jacket Women's is PFC-free and PFAS compliant, with a reduced carbon footprint according to the manufacturer. The face fabric contains recycled nylon, the backer is dope dyed, and the jacket uses materials produced through processes that meet bluesign criteria. It is Fair Trade Certified. As with any synthetic garment, washing may release plastic microfibres into the environment.
